OLD BUSINESS
3. Discuss Fundraising Options.
Board Member Kathleen Toms mentioned that where she works, they provided her with business cards with a
QR code so if citizens want, they can donate money. There was some discussion if a QR code could be
created to include Teen Court information and a way for citizens to donate. A discussion was held of utilizing
PayPal or something similar that can be connected and linked to a QR code where citizens can donate. The
QR code could be on a business card, half sheet of paper, or on a poster.
Chairperson David Lawwill mentioned he would like to see there be a traditional in-person Gala. Board
Member Bien Camungol mentioned that he felt the teens "got lost" in the large space and dark setting of the
event at Hurst Conference Center but then mentioned that at the Texas Star Conference Center it was bright
with light. The question was asked of who in the past has attended the Gala and approximately how many
have attended. Board Member Joe Robinson thought that the budget might be an issue for now, so maybe
having a recognition and separate fundraisers.
Kathleen Toms suggested maybe having something separate for the fundraising and a recognition. Ms. Toms
also suggested getting plaques for the businesses to be able to display. Ms. Toms also brought up a
suggestion of Smile.com through Amazon. The concept is when something is purchased through Amazon, a
percentage of eligible purchases can be directed as a donation to HEB Teen Court.
