HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-12-31147 Called Meeting Euless City Council December 31, 1956 The City Council of Euless, Texas met in,a called session on December 31, 1956, at 1:00 p.m. Present were Mayor Jimmy Payton, presiding; Councilmen Luther Anders, J. S. Anderson, W. H. Fuller, and Ernest Mi l l icani Jr. Councilman Anderson acted as secretary. On motion by Councilman M i l l i c a n and a second by Councilman Anders, the Council unanimously approved the Mayor's appointment of Earl Stapleton as Deputy City Marshal. This action rescinded former Council action, appointing Mr. Earl Stapleton City Marshal contingent on the resignation of the present City Marshal. But the provisions for the necessary equipment, car expense and salary of this officer remained the same, namely Mr. Stapleton to remain with the f i re department, be given a car expense allowance of fifty dollars monthly, a salary of fifty dollars monthly. The effective date of Mr. Stapleton's employment was changed from December 15, 1956, in the first approved motion to January 1, 1957. And payments of car expense and salary was changed from January 7, 1957 car expense to January 15. And his salary was changed from January 15, to February 1, etc. Following this action, Mayor Payton administered the oath of office to Mr. Stapleton. On a second motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fuller, Ordinance No. 57, Road and' Highways Policing, was unanimously adopted and a copy of t h i s ordinance on f i l e in Office of City Secretary . Mr. C. K. Rickel petitioned the City of Euless on December 28, 1956, to annex to the City of Euless a certain tract of land owned by him. The land is near Hurst, Texas.
