Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Mike McGehee asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the May 5, 2014 meeting. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs
seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed LuAnn Portugal, Leon Hogg and Gary
Lindsey to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Stats continue to look good.
Sherry Knight reported on the Summer Reading programs. May 29th was the SRC Kick-off at the Leon Hogg
Amphitheater at Bear Creek with"Vocal Trash." More than 200 attended the kick-off program.
To date we have over 300 youth and adult signed up for SRC. Storypallooza for ages 3-5 years had over 60 in
attendance, and our first Science Slam had 41 attend the program.
On Saturday, June 21 Donna Gooch will be hosting Book Buzz with a representative from Random House. We
will be handing out book bags and advanced copies of books from Random House.
Sherry Knight showed a short video of the Youth Librarians they put together for SRC.
The Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library is now on Facebook and Twitter.
Sherry spoke with Mary Lib Saleh and she is planning to attend our board meetings.
The Retirement Reception for Mayor Mary Lib Saleh was a huge success. The library staff and the City
Secretary's office worked very hard to put this together. The library looked beautiful and over 500 attended the
event.

DISCUSSIONS
1. Mike McGehee commented on the Ernest Hemingway e-books and was sorry he missed the Mayor's
Reception.
2. Mike McGehee commented that he had been a mentor this past year to a third grade student at South
Euless Elementary school.
3. Barney Snitz enjoyed Vocal Trash and the Mayor's reception.
4. Chris McAllister commented on the library newsletter.
5. Allan Gibbs commented on Donna Gooch's presentation on signing up for SRC and the Youth video.
6. Jason Reyes reported he graduated the Euless Citizen Police Academy and he really enjoyed the Vocal
Trash program. Jason also reported that he will be not be at the August board meeting.
7. Marcia Brown shared her visit to Crestview Library in Florida.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
1. LuAnn Portugal gave kudos to Sherry for all of her accomplishments during this year.
2. Leon Hogg also gave Sherry kudos for the many accomplishments during this year. He especially
enjoys the e-books that are now available.
3. LuAnn Portugal commented on Dave and Busters and the Riverwalk.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Chris McAllister and seconded by
Marcia Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
