A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS,
URGING THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE NOT TO IMPOSE
ADDITIONAL LIMITS ON RESIDENTIAL APPRAISALS
AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT REVENUES
WHEREAS, additional limits on residential appraisal and local government
revenues limit local governments' ability to deliver critical public services to citizens
within jurisdictional boundaries of municipalities; and
WHEREAS, arbitrary limits on governments' ability to raise revenue unduly
suggests locally elected officials are unresponsive to the view of their citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless strongly believes that the control over the revenue
generated for local governmental services should remain the authority of locally elected
officials who are responsible to the local taxpayer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, urges the Texas Legislature not to impose any limits on
growth of local tax revenue by injudiciously placing caps on residential appraisals.
APPROVED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 12th day of
December, 2006, by a vote of 5 ayes, 1 nay, and 1 abstention.
