A RESOLUTION URGING THE 80T" TEXAS
LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION
ADVOCATING THE FOLLOWING LEGISLATIVE ITEMS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
THAT the City Council urges the 80th Texas Legislature to support legislation
advocating the following legislative items:
1. Discontinue the diversion of transportation resources and appropriate all
revenues from highway user fees and taxes to fund transportation; and
2. Appropriate to program funding all revenues derived from fees levied to
support the Low Income Repair and Assistance Program (LIRAP) and the
Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP); and
3. Enact the provisions set forth in the Texas Clean Air Working Group
resolution and extend the TERP through FY2013 for the Dallas /Fort Worth
and Houston/Galveston regions; and
4. Index the motor fuels tax to enable it to increase with growth in the
economy; and
5. Authorize metropolitan regions to enact a local option transportation tax
with voter approval; and
6. Reallocate $235 million of highway user fees from the General Revenue
Fund to the Texas Mobility Fund; and
7. Allocate monies to the Rail Relocation Fund (with the intent that some will
be allocated to fund Tower 55 congestion relief); and
8. Clarify the law to ensure that all revenues from tolls shall be used to fund
transportation in the region from which the tolls were collected; and
9. Enact legislation that allows for "No Tolerance" DWI enforcement,
including Sobriety Check Points as necessary.
SECTION 2
THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Texas House
of Representatives and the Texas Senate representing the City of Euless and that a
copy of this resolution also be forwarded to the Texas Municipal League requesting its
support for such position.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Euless, Texas, on this 9th day of January, 2007, by a vote of 6 ayes 1
nays, and 0 abstentions.
