MEETING OF MARCH 6, 2014

The Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford, Texas met at 6:00 p.m. at Bedfor
City Hall on the 6th day of March 2014, with the following members present:
HURST: Phoebe Soward, Cecilia Vaughn, Tim Beard
EULESS: Renu Sloan
BEDFORD: Janet Key, Jeanne Owers
TEEN REPRESENTATIVES:

CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Phoebe Soward called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. with a quorum of six Board Members
present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Consider approval of the following Teen Court Advisory Board minutes:
a) January 16, 2014 regular meeting.
Minutes of the January 16, 2014 Regular Board Meeting were reviewed. Jeanne Owers made a motion to
accept the minutes and Renu Sloan seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
2. Introductions

3. Discuss ideas for fundraisers.
City of Bedford's City Council Liaison Ray Champney mentioned if there is anything that other Boards and
Commissions and the Bedford City Council could do to help with the fundraisers they are willing to assist.
4. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to the 2014 annual Teen Court Banquet.
The Scholarship Committee met on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 reviewed all of the scholarship applications and
decided all six applicants should each receive $1,000. Advisory Board Member Renu Sloan made a motion that all
applicants receive $1,000 scholarships and Janet Key seconded the motion. All were in favor and this was a
unanimous vote.
Everything was just about set for the banquet on April 3, 2014. The second and final payment for the photo booth v
made and all of the photo props were bought and ready to be used. The centerpieces had been purchased and wil
consist of hurricane vases, provided by Texas Star, candles and colored stones, for an elegant look.
The silent auction items need to be brought with the Board Members along with the filled out bid sheets. One of the
teens' mother located several items for the silent auction and these items will be brought over by Teen Court Staff.
plan was discussed about how to handle the ending of the silent auction and make sure that the auction closed
properly.
5. Discuss and possibly take action on a sponsorship/information flier for Advisory Board Members.
Advisory Board member Jeanne Owers mentioned she was in the process of arranging a luncheon at the place
where she lives and she would mention sponsorship ideas to them.
NEW BUSINESS
6. Set the date for the next Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting.
The next HEB Teen Court meeting will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bedford City Hall upstairs
conference room, 2000 Forest Ridge Drive.
REPORTS
Mindy Eichorst presented the Coordinator's Report and Financial Report for the months of January and February
2014.
