OLD BUSINESS
3. Discuss ideas for fundraisers.
Secretary Kathleen Toms mentioned that Marco's Pizza in Bedford has a different manager and district
manager every time she tries to talk with them. Chairperson Phoebe Soward mentioned Chick-Fil-A
and their fundraisers and the locations of the restaurants two in Hurst and one in Euless. Kathleen
Toms mentioned they are a good fundraiser and could possibly give 20 (Y0 back to the group for one
day. It was suggested to talk with Steve and Debbie Vincent, franchise owners of one of the
restaurants. Bedford Council Liaison, Steve Farco, suggested a bowl-a-thon at Showplace Lanes in
Euless. Vice Chairperson Warren Wilson advised he would check into this opportunity. There was a
discussion of involving the teen volunteers with the fundraisers and Ms. Soward offered to attend a teen
court and talk with the teen volunteers and get their opinions of fundraisers and their involvement of
assisting the Advisory Board.
4. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to the 2014 annual Teen Court
Banquet.
Vice-Chairperson Warren Wilson contacted Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst about getting
comparisons of profits from the Teen Court Scholarship Banquets for the past couple of years. A chart
with the years of 2011 through 2014 was presented to all Advisory Board Members and then to all
present at the meeting. After comparing the results of the past 4 years, a discussion of how to
recognize the volunteer teens was brought up. Mr. Wilson suggested a presentation in front of peers in
a courtroom while Ms. Soward suggested a more efficient way but making it a personal recognition.
Ms. Soward then asked if this topic could be added to the next agenda to discuss further.
5. Discuss and possibly take action on a sponsorship/information flier for Advisory
Board Members.
A flier to include sponsorship and donation options was something the Advisory Board Members
wanted to still work on. Kathleen Toms made a motion to have a sponsorship/information flier
and Warren Wilson seconded the motion. This was a unanimous vote.
NEW BUSINESS
6. Discuss the overview of HEB Teen Court Program including the following:
a) Volunteers
b) Defendants
c) Discipline Grid
d) Community Service

always looking for both adult and teen volunteers. A few suggestions of contacts were Lisa Karr at
HEB ISD Tech School and also Nancy Shane, L.D. Bell International Baccalaureate Coordinator.
7. Discuss and possibly take action on a teen liaison application.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst handed each Advisory Board Member a copy of the teen liaison
application for Dakota Ridgway. After some discussion, Advisory Board Member Renu Sloan made a
motion to have Dakota Ridgway as a Teen Liaison representing Trinity High School and Jeanne Owers
seconded the motion. This was a unanimous vote by all Advisory Board Members.
8. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to the 2015 annual Teen Court
Banquet.
A continuation from the earlier discussion about the 2014 annual Teen Court Banquet, Chairperson
Phoebe Soward mentioned an event, whatever it may be, needs to be organized in a timely fashion.
Advisory Board Member Jeanne Owers mentioned she liked the idea of a reception in a courtroom
instead of a banquet. Advisory Board Member Renu Sloan challenged all of the Advisory Board
Members to bring at least one contact to the next meeting.
9. Set the date for the next Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting.
