A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS, DEDICATING THE "OFFICER MICHAEL R. WILLIAMSON
MEMORIAL DRIVE" IN HIS MEMORY.
WHEREAS, Officer Michael Ray Williamson began his career with the City of
Euless on August 17, 1981, and faithfully served the citizens of this community; and
WHEREAS, on November 28, 1982, Officer Williamson was the first Euless
Police Officer to be killed in the line duty when his patrol car was struck by a drunk
driver while he was on patrol; and
WHEREAS, Officer Williamson left behind his beloved wife, Becky Williamson,
and their six, cherished young children, Michael, Suzanne, Stephanie, Timothy, Melissa
and Christopher; and
WHEREAS, lest we never forget that Officer Williamson served his community
with the ultimate sacrifice of his life; and
WHEREAS, as we approach the 32nd Anniversary of Officer Williamson's End of
Watch, the City Council desires to recognize and honor the memory of Officer
Williamson for his dedication and service to the people of this community through the
dedication of the "Officer Michael R. Williamson Memorial Drive"; and
WHEREAS, that this designation serve as a perpetual reminder of the sacrifice
the Williamson family endured.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
We, the members of the City Council, recognize and honor Officer Michael Ray
Williamson for his dedication and service to the people of this community through the
dedication of the "Officer Michael R. Williamson Memorial Drive".
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage,
as the law and charter in such cases provide.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on
the 11th day of November 2014 by a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstention.
