Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Mike McGehee asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the August 7, 2014 meeting. Allan Gibbs made the motion to accept the minutes and Chris
McAllister seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed the visitors to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Stats continue to look good with increase in the digital check outs.
Update on e-books and digital resources:
Starting October 1, 2014 we will be changing from Zinio to a more user friendly Flipster for our digital
magazines.
Upcoming library events:
Bone Doggie on September 8th at 7:00pm in the Meeting Room
Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale September 12th, 13th, and 14th in the Meeting Room
Book Crafting for Adults on September 25th in the Board Room
Teen Room Pilot Project:
The small youth story time room is scheduled to be painted. When the room is completed we will
continue to use during the day for other programs, but will be used as a place for the teens after school from
3:30pm to 5:30pm. The name of the room will be changed to "The Bubble."
Sherry gave a report on the final budget.
Sherry reported that the library is partnering with UTD in hosting an interactive science exhibit. Stop by the
Youth Department and check out our Wentzscope. It is on loan to the library at no charge and UTD will offer
over time other displays to the library.

DISCUSSIONS
1. Mike McGehee commented on how important it is to invite the community to the board meetings.
2. Carol Kveck commented on the youth programs and how involved Angela Jones and Lacey Fliger
have been involved in the outreach programs.
3. Chris McAllister would like to see the comments box shared at the board meeting.
4. Barney Snitz commented on the "Fill the Boot" campaign the Euless Fire Department will be
involved in over Labor Day weekend.
5. Barney Snitz commented on library staff identification suggestions.
6. Allan Gibbs is asking for help with the Books for Troops program that the Euless Library
Foundation is working on.
7. Jason Reyes commented on his visit to the Chicago library.
8. Loretta Doty inquired on the possibility of a library expansion.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
1. Mary Lib Saleh commented on the opening of the Viridian School on September 6, 2914. Students
from HEB ISD and Arlington ISD can enroll at the new school. The school will be offering 7
languages to students starting at the second grade.
2. LuAnn Portugal commented on the displays, attending board meetings, and the Euless Fire
Department stair climb.
3. Leon Hogg commented on the green paint letter markings on the city streets and curbs.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by Chris
McAllister. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
