CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bill Golden called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m.The meeting was held at Euless
City Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless,TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Bill Byers,Joe Cannon,Weldon Cannon, Barbara Collier, Iris
Elliott,Gary Fieldsend, Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long,Don Martin, David Massey,
Robert Nail, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss,Andy Weinzapfel, Leon Hogg and Mavy
Wright.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

STAFF PRESENT
Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Director of Parks and Community Services Ray
McDonald and Projects Coordinator Ofa "Mary" Faiva-Siale.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Leon Hogg made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Marilyn Long seconded the
motion, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Mavy Wright reported the ending balance from June,2014 as$11,166.74.There
were$266.42 in expenditures and$77 in deposits, making the beginning balance on September
1,2014, $10,977.32
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. It was reported that there was a good turnout in June but only three visitors in July. In
August,open house was canceled due to the road construction on Cullum Drive.
2. Leon Hogg, Iris Elliott, Bill Byers, Norma Lively, Doris Brown,Joe Cannon, Helen Payton,
Mavy Wright, David Massey and Veva Lou Massey volunteered to serve as docents at the
September open house.

STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Visitor Report—Members of the Tarrant County Historical Commission were present to
honor Betty Fuller with a VIP(Very Important Preservationist) ID Badge for years of
dedicated service to the Commission. They are also having their annual summit on October
4,2014 if anyone from the Euless Historical Committee would like to attend.
2. Presentation on Tarrant—Weldon Cannon gave a very interesting PowerPoint presentation
about the history of Tarrant and the railroad station relative to Euless in the 1700's.
3. Acquisition Sub-Committee—Bill Byers reported that an old grinder and bicycle were
recently acquired.
4. Library Display/Website—Gary Fieldsend will look at the current sign at the Library. Marilyn
Long volunteered to help Mr. Fieldsend with the project.
5. Museum Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier reported the following:
• Still meeting for work sessions at the Museum every Wednesday. When possible,she
will be onsite between 10 am and 2 pm for members who can help with various
projects.
6. Euless Marker Program—Nothing new reported.
7. Publicity Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier discussed the following:
a. Posts are being made on Facebook advertising open house.
b. She will speak with My Credit Union about advertising open house on their electronic
sign.
c. Will also speak with Super Value Pharmacy about advertising open house on their
electronic sign.
d. City puts out the open house signs at various intersections the week of open house.
e. Asked Bill Byers about the Texas First National Bank electronic sign.
f. Members can post signs in their yard for open house.
g. Open house being advertised on the City's cable channel.
8. Plaque Project—Nothing new reported.
9. Oral History/Photography Sub-Committee—City staff has done Robert Nail's oral history
recording.The interview will be transcribed as time allows.
10. Evolving History—Gary Fieldsend has photographs of the old Rebecca store(previously the
old skating rink)being torn down. He will add the photos to the Flickr account.
11. Scrap Booking Sub-Committee—Marilyn Long discussed the following:
a. Couldn't hold a meeting last month due to road construction.
b. Will call a Scrap Book Committee meeting in the near future.
c. Betty Fuller has a Fuller family book that needs to be scanned.Staff can scan the book.

CHAIRMANS REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported and/or discussed the following:
a. Diana Crawford will give a presentation at the October meeting.
b. A new sub-committee called Artifact Recovery Sub-committee was established and
Andy Weinzapfel will serve as the chairman. Mr.Weinzapfel asked for suggestions of
locations to metal detect.
c. The new Pot Belly restaurant in Euless has Euless historical photos on the walls.
STAFF REPORT
1. Staff reported the following:
a. Will provide Euless Today brochures to the Museum to hand out.
b. Staff picked up one booklet of Mr. Nails'stamp collection and will have it appraised in
the near future.
c. A new staff member named Kassidy Melgar is helping with the inventory and other
historical projects.
COMMITTEE/OTHER REPORTS
1. Joe Cannon noted how important it would be to have a collection of photographs of old
Euless homes.
2. Bill Byers gave R.E. Usselton's daughter from California a tour of the Museum. Photos of Mr.
Ussetton and his brother were previously donated to the Museum. New photos will be
acquired for the Wall of Fame.
3. Norma Lively noted there are new building projects at Highway 10 and Wilshire that may
need to be photographed.
4. Weldon Cannon visited Bedford County,Tennessee.This,of course, is the city where many
of Euless'ancestors came from. He spoke to a group of over one-hundred people.
5. Faye Stinneford mentioned that the Euless Citizens Fire Academy is holding their annual
fundraiser if anyone would like to purchase tickets.
6. Iris Elliott reminded the members that there will be a memorial service on September 11 at
the memorial site in front of the Fire Station on Ector Drive on Thursday.
7. Leon Hogg thanked the visitors from the Tarrant County Historical Commission for attending
and for honoring Betty Fuller.She deserves the recognition.
8. Betty Porter asked if anyone in the Euless committee knew any information about the old
Calloway Lake that was allowed to dry up in years past.
9. Members reminisced about an old country dub and/or a shooting club that used to be
located the south Euless area years ago.

approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
