HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-02-23155 Called Meeting Euless City Council February 23, 1957 The City Council met in a called session on February 23, 1957, at 7:30 p.m. Presiding was Mayor Jimmy Payton with Councilmen Luther Anders, Lucius Anders, J. S. Anderson, and Ernest Millican, J r., present. On a motion by Councilman Luther Anders, seconded by Councilman M i l l i c a n , Ordinance No. 58, amending Ordinance No. 44, Section Three, making the Office of Recorder appointive, whereas it had been elective, was approved and adopted by unanimous vote. Councilman Lucius Anders offered a motion, seconded by Councilman Millican, that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 10, calling for an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two Councilmen on April 2, 1957, to serve for two years or until their successors are duly qualified to serve. The motion was unanimously adopted. On a final motion by Councilman Millican, with a second by Councilman Lucius Anders, Ordinance No. 64, request of Wynne Snoots and wife for annexation to the City of Euless, was offered for approval and adoption. The annexation was unanimously accepted. The Council, having been advised that Mr. A. J. Knarr, due to his position with the government, would be unable to further serve the City as a member of the Planning Commission, instructed the City Secretary to write Mr. Knarr a letter expressing the City's appre- ciation for his invaluable services in the past, that the City Council enjoyed very much working with him and was very sorry to loose him. The Council, by agreement without a motion, approved Mrs. C. A. Horton as judge of the election and instructed the City Secretary to help Mrs. Horton in the selection of two helpers suitable to her. The pay of the judge and each helper to be five dollars each with an additional $3.00 to be paid the person going for and returning the ballot boxes. The City Secretary was instructed to contact Mr. Clifford Green with the information that since Mr. Green had signed a petition asking for water in Mosier Valley in accordance with whatever agree- ment had been made, the City is not in a position to interfere. at 8:15 p.m. The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Payton Minutes Approved: Attested = /s/ Jimmy C.
