HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-10-01FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD October 20, 2021 ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:32 A.M. at the City of Euless City Hall Building, 201 N. Ector Dr., Euless, Texas 76039 The following members were in attendance: Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor Dr. Susan Read City Council Member Eddie Price Staff Members Present: Deputy City Manager Chris Barker Asst. Director of Public Works Major Jones Animal Control Officer Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour ITEM 2 — REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM JUNE 16, 2021 Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of June 16, 2021. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written. ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON GAP ACO Shelton reported that GAP held an adoption event at the Pet Supermarket in Colleyville with not adoptions. They also held a yard sale at the Animal Shelter, raising $1,075. GAP has also received donations from 2 different sources: a young male that organized a birthday donation event and the Lighthouse Daycare in Viridian collected donations. ITEM 4 — QUARTERLY REPORT Director Cranor asked about the high increase in noise violation and patrol area calls. ACO Shelton stated that they believe it may be due to an increase in individuals working from home that would not have previously heard the dog(s) barking. Dr. Read asked if the dead animal pickups were mostly wildlife and ACO Shelton confirmed that it was. Page 1 of 2 ITEM 5 — SHELTER / FACILITY UPDATE ACO Shelton reported that the dog runs at the shelter have been painted and that sun shade panels have been added to the gravel area to prevent dogs from jumping / climbing over the fence and getting out. ACO Shelton also indicated that they are currently getting prices for turf instead of gravel in the dog area. Director Cranor reported that shelter staff have requested public access hours be changed. Deputy City Manager Barker requested that shelter staff survey the surrounding cities for their opening times. ITEM 6 — QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Cranor asked if there were any question or comments. Council Member Price asked for the criteria for the fourth Animal Shelter Advisory Board position and Deputy City Manager Barker explained the criteria required. Director Cranor then asked if there were any further questions or comments pertaining to the meeting. No questions were indicated. ITEM 7 — ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 12:01 P.M.
