Euless City Council
March 9, 1957
The Euless City Council met in regular
session on March 9, 1957, at 7:45 p.m. Councilmen present were Luther
Anders, J. S. Anderson, W. H. Fuller and Ernest MIl 1 scan, Jr.
Mayor Jimmy Payton called the meeting to
order and asked f o r the reading o f the minutes of a l l past meetings. A I I
minutes were read and approved.
Meeting with the Council were Recorder
Fred Gray and Messrs. Blackie Miller and H. C. Williams. Judge Gray was
a guest, Mr. Miller discussed with the Council the water rates being
charged and Mr. Williams made inquiry about the requirements for a trailer
court within the city limits. The Council accepted a .preliminary plat
from Mr. Williams to be submitted to the Planning Commission for study
and recommendations.
On a motion by Councilman Millican, with
a seconded by Councilman Luther Anders, the City Secretary was instructed
to write Mr. Gleeson, City Attorney, that he, Mr. Gleeson, is requested to
write the Municipal Service Company, making reference to Mr. Gleeson's
letter and opinion of August 24, 1956, that according to the interpretation
of Ordinance No. 21 there is no reason for a deviation from the rates to
be charged and the City of Euless expects the Municipal Service Company
to abide by the agreement and cease from making excessive charges for t ra i I e r
courts. The motion was unanimously approved. Mr. Gleeson was instructed
further to give the City an answer as soon as possible.
A motion.was offered by Councilman Anderson
that the Council reject the request of City Marshal Stapleton that the Council
pay for the transmitter, cost $210.00, City Marshal Stapleton had put on
his car. The motion was seconded by Councilman Luther Anders and unanimously
approved.
A motion by Councilman Luther Anders, seconded
by Councilman M i I I i ca n to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 65 was approved
by unanimous vote.
A motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman Fuller to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 66 was approved by
unanimous vote.
A motion by Councilman M i l l i ca n, seconded
by Councilman Luther Anders to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 67 was
approved by unanimous vote.
A motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman F u l l e r to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 68 was approved by
unanimous vote.

A motion by Councilman Fuller, seconded by -,
Councilman Anderson to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 69 was approved by
unanimous vote.
A motion by Councilman Anders, seconded by
Councilman F u l l e r to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 70 was approved by
unanimous vote
A motion by Councilman' Anderson, seconded
by Councilman M i l l i c a n to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 71 was approved
by unanimous vote.
(All of the above ordinances are on file in Office of City Secretary.)
Councilman Millican offered his written
resignation in the following letter: To the Mayor and City Councilmen. Dear
Sirs: Because of rry being a candidate for the office of Mayor of the City
of Euless in the coming election, April 2, 1957, please accept my resignation
from the office of City Councilman of the City of Euless effective this the
9th day of March, 1957• Respectifully yours, Ernest Millican. Councilman
Fuller made the motion, Councilman Anders secodned it and the Council
unanimously accepted Councilman Mi l l ican's resignation.
Councilman Anderson offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Anders that the Council adopt Resolution No. 11,
calling for a city election April 2, 1957, for the purpose of electing a
Mayor and two Councilmen. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
On a final motion by Councilman Millican,
seconded by Councilman Anderson, T. A. Kennard was authorized to put up
city signs at such places as the City Marshal shall designate, Mr. Kennard
to receive $1.50 per hour for his services. The motion was unanimously
adopted.
