Dear Citizens,
Have you
thought about the
importance of the
Crime Control
and Prevention
District Board?
Its purpose is to
finance all costs
of a crime control and prevention
program to decrease the crime rate
in Euless. With the approval of the
City Council, the board creates a
budget each year to fund the Crime
Control and Prevention District, and
it manages and administers those
district funds.
The Crime Control and Prevention
District Board is made up of four
council members and three volunteers
who work with the Police Chief.
They channel funds for equipment,
technology and staffing to reduce
crime and increase public safety.
One of the ways that they work to
improve the quality of life for our
young children is by subsidizing the
program, Euless Police Inspiring
Champions (EPIC). In this wonderful
program, police officers involve
children in fun physical activities
that promote teamwork, good
sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle.
As the officers interact with kids in
an encouraging environment, they
promote self-esteem and build positive
relationships. EPIC is presented at
every Euless Elementary School from
grades Pre-K through Sixth.

Keeping Our Drinking Water & Waterways Clean
"April Showers Bring May Flowers," but they can also contaminate our City's water supply. When rain falls, the
water soaks into the ground or flows over the land, picking up and carrying pollutants to lakes, rivers and oceans.
The sediments and dissolved materials carried to our waterways can directly affect our drinking water.
All of the contaminants that enter our waters are called non -point source pollution (NPS). Unlike pollution that
can be traced to a single source, with NPS pollution there is no factory, no single pipe, no single point that can
be identified, monitored and regulated. Instead, NPS pollution is a result of millions of individual actions, which
makes it difficult to control. Because we all contribute to the problem, it is everyone's responsibility.
What Can You Do?
• Properly dispose of household chemicals
• Choose nontoxic chemicals for your lawn and garden
• Compost grass clippings and leaves
• Sweep, do not wash, fertilizer and soil off driveways and walkways
• Never allow pet waste to wash into storm drains
• Repair oil leaks from motor vehicles immediately
• Recycle used oil and oil filters
• Do not hose spilled brake fluid, oil, grease and antifreeze into the street
• Never throw litter in streets or down storm drains
• Inspect septic systems every year and pump out every two to five years
Small changes in one's behavior may seem insignificant, but when multiplied by the entire community, it adds up!
Do your share to keep our waters clean. For more information on reducing NPS pollution, call 1-800-CLEANUP,
or visit the website, Earth9l Lcom.
