Parks and Leisure Services Board
December 1, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 pm on
Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Park Maintenance building by Chairman Eric Owens. Other
Board Members present: John Raab, Randy Jones, Steve Doty, Tiffany Smith and Roger Sickler.
Members absent: Carl Miller
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks
Superintendent Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, and Administrative
Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Loretta Doty and Council member Jeremy Tompkins.
INVOCATION
Eric Owens gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
November 3, 2014 regular meeting. Mr. Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—Midway Park& Blessing Branch: No items to report.
b. Randy Jones—Bob Eden &Trailwood: No items to report.
c. John Raab—Villages of Bear Creek& Reflection: No items to report.
d. Tiffany Smith—Kiddie Carr&J.A. Carr: No items to report.
e. Carl Miller—Heritage&S. Euless: Not present.
1. Roger Sickler-West Park&Wilshire: No items to report.
g. Chairman Owens—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
h. Chairman Owens reported on the following Special Events:
• November 19—Senior Holiday Luncheon—375 people

• December 6-Christmas Parade of Lights 6:30 on Midway Drive
• December 13—Heritage Christmas Park 1pm-5pm at Heritage Park
• January 3—Euless Family Life Center Open House 10am—12pm

Ill. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Tiffany Smith reported the following for November 2014:
a. Total man hours for November= 580
• 158.00 Horticulture
• 94.00 Forestry
• 120.00 Greenhouse
• 200.00 Special Projects
• 8.00 Training
o Planted a Pecan tree at Euless Aquatic Park for 2nd annual Texas Arbor Day.
o Purchased Christmas tree for log house.
o Trimmed trees at Bob Eden Park.
o Held Arbor Day greenhouse open house on November 7.
o Removed fallen limbs at various parks.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Parade route and other updates about the event.
• New fitness equipment arriving December 19, EFLC will be closed.
• New membership opportunity—3 month/ 1 year available.
• Facility rental—Activity room #1 and gymnasium now available.
• Arbor Daze will be Friday 5pm-10 pm and Saturday 9am-10pm next year.
b. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Discussed revitalization of Parks at Texas Star/West Park.
• Staff reports will begin in January.
Chairman Owens thanked them for their reports.
VI. Other New Business
No new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Mr.Tompkins suggested items for park revitalization.

Chairman Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:34 pm.
