CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Barbara Collier called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. The meeting was
held at Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Drive, Euless,
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Dan Burger, Michele Burger, Weldon Cannon, Barbara
Collier, Leon Hogg, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey, Veva Lou
Massey, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Mary Lib Saleh, Andy Weinzapfel and Mavy
Wright.

Ray McDonald, Director of Parks & Community Services, Suzanne Hendrickson,
Recreation Manager
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Don Martin made a motion to approve the minutes as written. The motion was
seconded by Doris Brown, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The balance at the beginning of December 2014 was $11,712.47. There was no activity
in the account this month so, the beginning balance for January 2015 is $11, 712.47.
GUEST SPEAKER
Mike Collins needed to reschedule his report to the committee. No report given.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Don Martin mentioned to the Committee that he had recently visited with Iris Elliott.
She is currently at Reliant recovering. She can have visitors if anyone would like to
go see her.
2. Mavy Wright requested that if any members know of another committee member
that is sick or in the hospital to let her know so a card may be sent from the
Committee.
3. Mary Lib Saleh presented the committee with a newspaper she found at home that
had a 1968 article about James Fuller.

4. Barbara Collier passed around the sub-committee list so the committee could sign
up for committees they would like to serve on.
5. Discussion was held on whether the Player Piano and the Victrola should be fixed.
Leon Hogg volunteered to find a contractor to fix them.
6. Barbara Collier announced that the night meeting she had posted on Facebook for
January 12 at 6:30 p.m. would be held but, all future night meetings will be on-hold
until further discussion can be had.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docent Reports/Recruitment— Mavy Wright
a. Open House on Saturday, December 13, 2014 had about 750 people attend.
b. The elementary school tour to be held on January 6, 2015 was cancelled.
c. Open House on Saturday, January 10, 2015 had only two people attend. It was
extremely cold that day.
d. Open House on February 14, 2015 was discussed. The mural will be unveiled at
1:30 p.m.
✓ Mr. Martin asked if they could get a fact sheet about the mural.
■ It was mentioned that Mr. Byers is having a plaque done to hang next to the
mural.
e. A private tour of the Museum will be held on February 12 at 10 a.m. Members
were asked to be there at 9:30 a.m. This is a Senior Citizen class from Tarrant
County College that will be taking the tour.
2. Acquisitions — Bill Byers
a. Alex Horton donated an adding machine for the Museum.
b. Andy Weinzapfel donated a 1930 Pronto Box Camera. It's a 50th anniversary
camera from Kodak.
3. Library Display\Website \ Facebook—Bill Golden
a. No report
4. Heritage Park— Gary Parker
a. Mr. Parker mentioned that they hope to start working on the blacksmith shop
soon if the weather allows.
5. Local Historical Marker—Weldon Cannon
a. Andy Weinzapfel mentioned that the Sikh Temple would like to apply for a state
historical marker for the site at Cullum and Highway 10. It has been
discussed that an "Early Education" marker may be the best subject with a
bigger context from 1890 to present. Weldon Cannon is going to begin
putting a narrative together for this marker.

b. Mr. Cannon also mentioned that John Calhoun who was president at University
of Texas taught at the Euless School from 1937 — 1939. This was his first
teaching job in Texas.
6. Publicity— Barbara Collier
a. It has been decided that we are not going to do the flyers to give to businesses
any longer because many are not allowed to hang them up anymore.
b. The Committee will be able to advertise open house information on the digital
sign that will be installed by First Methodist Church along Highway 183. This is a
future project.
c. They will be asking some locations around town who have digital signs if they will
put open house information on their signs.
d. Staff brought additional signs for member's yards if anyone would like to have
one.
7. Plaque — Faye Stinneford
a. No report
8. Display Signs — Mavy Wright
a. Signs are an ongoing project.
9. Library History\ Genealogy Room — Bill Golden
a. No report
10.Oral History\ Photography— Gary Fieldsend
a. Staff reported that Robert Nail's oral history is almost completely transcribed and
we should have it very soon.
b. In addition, staff is working with a museum curator to properly catalog and
preserve Mr. Mail's stamp collection.
11.Historical Albums — Marilyn Long
a. Marilyn Long reported that they have got a good start with the photo albums. The
work will be on-going for some time but they are pleased with where they are at.
12.Artifact Recovery—Andy Weinzapfel
a. The Committee is looking at some additional locations to metal detect and will be
contacting owners of potential sites.
13.Historical Marker Application — Bill Golden
a. No report.

14.Tarrant County Historical Commission — Leon Hogg
a. No report.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
1. Barbara Collier said that she was looking forward to the next year as chairwoman of
the committee. She mentioned that her door is always open if anyone wants to come
discuss anything with her.
2. The Guest Speaker for next month will be Lisa McNamara who is the artist who
finished and installed the mural.
STAFF REPORT
1. Suzanne Hendrickson passed out the most recent committee roster from the City
Secretary's Office.
2. She also mentioned that with the help of Helen Payton and Norma Lively that we
have decided on t-shirt colors for the committee and those will be ordered.
COMMITTEE / OTHER REPORTS
1. Michelle Burger mentioned that on this day in 1773 the first public museum was
formed in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also continuing to take our promotional
materials to Grapevine and they are being picked up by visitors.
2. Don Martin mentioned that if you have not been up to Glade Crossing that you
should take a drive through soon. Dick's Sporting Goods and Dave & Busters are
starting to build. Many of the streets are open now and it is an easy drive through.
3. Weldon Cannon mentioned that Ernest Millican, Jr. (former Euless Mayor) passed
away recently. He asked if we had biographies on all Council members. It was
mentioned that we have biographies on all former Mayors on the City website.
4. Dan Burger said he just retired one-week ago and is looking forward to start
attending meetings and getting involved with the Committee.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Leon Hogg seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
