Parks and Leisure Services Board
February 2,2015
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, February 2, 2015 in the Pre-Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by
Chairman Eric Owens. Other Board Members present: Randy Jones, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty,
Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes, Salman Bhojani. Members absent: John Raab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks
Superintendent Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Special Events &Volunteer
Coordinator Jerry Poteet and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Patisepa Haisila Finau, Ofa Faiva-Siale, Irma Reyes, Council Member Jeremy
Tompkins.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the January
5, 2015 regular meeting. Mr. Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Mr. Doty. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—Midway Park& Blessing Branch: No items to report.
b. Randy Jones—Bob Eden &Trailwood: No items to report.
c. John Raab—Villages of Bear Creek& Reflection: Not present.
d. Tiffany Smith—Kiddie Carr&J.A. Carr: No items to report.
e. Roger Sickler-West Park&Wilshire: No items to report.

g. Chairman Owens reported on the following Special Events:

II. Volunteer of the Month
h. Chairman Owens announced the February 2015 Volunteer of the Month award goes to
Patisepa Haisila Finau. Ms. Finau has been a very active and supportive member of the
Euless Tongan Community Committee. Not only as the treasurer, has she helped
coordinate their participation in all the city events. She has helped with the Trunk or Treat
and Christmas Parade. Ms. Finau accepted her award and thanked the board.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Tiffany Smith reported the following for January:
a. Total man hours for January 1-31 = 774
• 211.00 Horticulture
• 124.00 Forestry
• 188.00 Greenhouse
• 208.00 Special Projects
• 43.00 Training
• Removed dead Pacen tree at J.A. Carr Park next to building.
• Removed Red Tip Photinias at Trailwood Park.
• Removed Crape Myrtles at McCormick Gazebo for A.D.A. ramp.
• Removed Red Tip Photinias at McCormick Park.
• Removed fallen limbs at various parks.
• Planted Red Oaks, Live Oaks, Red Cedars and Sycamores on Mid Cities Trail System.
IV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Staff Report—Jerry Poteet
• Discussed City of Euless volunteer base.
• Presented overview of special events throughout the year.
b. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Recreation center sold 514 memberships in January, Senior Center sold 190.
• Indoor rentals are busy due to weather.
• Historical timeline of Euless Mural to be unveiled at the museum Saturday,
February 13.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Discussed South Euless Pool demolition.
• Informed the Board about the Parks Department promotions.
Chairman Owens thanked the staff for their reports.

V. Election of Officers
Chairman Owens advised that the current Park Board Officers are: Chairman — Eric Owens, Vice
Chairman—John Raab and Secretary—Randy Jones.
The current Tree Board Officers are: Chairman—Tiffany Smith and Vice Chairman—Open.
Chairman Owens stated that each officer will be elected by nomination and then vote of the Park
Board. He opened the floor for nominations.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Eric Owens for Chairman of the Park Board. With no
other nominations Randy Jones made a motion to close nominations for Chairman. Roger Sickler
seconded the motion.The vote to approve was unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate John Raab for Vice Chairman of the Park Board. With no
other nominations Roger Sickler made a motion to close nominations for Vice Chairman. Randy
Jones seconded the motion.The vote to approve was unanimous.
Randy Jones made a motion to nominate Steve Doty for Secretary of the Park Board. With no
other nominations Tiffany Smith made a motion to close nominations for Secretary. Roger Sickler
seconded the motion.The vote to approve was unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Tiffany Smith for Chairman of Tree Board. With no other
nominations Randy Jones made a motion to close nominations for Tree Board Chairman. Roger
Sickler seconded the motion.The vote to approve was unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Randy Jones for Vice Chairman of Tree Board. With no
other nominations Roger Sickler made a motion to close nominations for Tree Board Vice
Chairman.Tiffany Smith seconded the motion.The vote to approve was unanimous.
The new 2015 Park Board officers are: Chairman — Eric Owens, Vice Chairman —John Raab and
Secretary—Steve Doty.
The new 2015 Tree Board officers are: Chairman — Tiffany Smith and Vice Chairman — Randy
Jones.
VI. Other New Business
No new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Council Member Tompkins thanked the Parks and Community Service Department for their gift to
Mr. McKamie at his retirement celebration.

Mr. Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
