Parks and Leisure Services Board
March 07, 2022
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. On
Monday, March, 07, 2022, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: Magen Brown, Steve Doty, John Raab, Isha Sharma, Jason
Reyes and Roger Sickler. Members absent: Kay Seger.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Recreation
Superintendent Elizabeth Johnson, Parks Manager Daniel Dearborn, Parks Superintendent Ryan
Turner and Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: None
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
December 06, 2021 regular meeting. Roger Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by John Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Election of Officers
Chairman Jones advised that the current Park Board Officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones,
Vice Chairman —John Raab and Secretary — Steve Doty.
The current Tree Board Officers are: Chairman — Jason Reyes and Vice Chairman — Roger
Sickler.
Chairman Jones stated that each officer will be elected by nomination and then vote of the
Park Board. He opened the floor for nominations.
Steve Doty made a motion to nominate Randy Jones for Chairman of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by Roger Sickler. There were no other nominations and the vote to
approve was unanimous.

Jason Reyes made a motion to nominate John Raab for Vice Chairman. The motion was
seconded by Randy Jones. There were no other nominations and the vote to approve was
unanimous.
John Raab made a motion to nominate Steve Doty for Secretary. The motion was
seconded by Jason Reyes. There were no other nominations and the vote to approve was
unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Jason Reyes for Chairman of the Tree Board.
The motion was seconded by John Raab. There were no other nominations and the vote
to approve was unanimous.
Randy Jones made the motion to nominate Roger Sickler as Vice Chairman of the Tree
Board. The motion was seconded by Jason Reyes. There were no other nominations and
the vote to approve was unanimous.
The new 2022 Park Board officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones, Vice Chairman — John
Raab and Secretary —Steve Doty.
The new 2022 Tree Board officers are: Chairman — Jason Reyes and Vice Chairman — Roger
Sickler.

III. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for December 11-31':
a. Total man hours for December In — 315t = 936

➢ Started to sow acorns for the Arbor Daze Festival, we currently have 500 acorns
with roots.
➢ Removed and trimmed trees at Blessing Branch in preparation of the upcoming
project.
➢ Park checks for downed limbs and potential hazards.
➢ Set up for Christmas tree recycling program.
➢ Used recycled mulch on flower beds in preparation of upcoming winter.
b. Total man hours for January 11- 311= 690

• 231 Forestry
• 63 Greenhouse
• 125 Special Projects
• 100 Training
➢ Removed dead Pecan Tree from McCormick Park.
➢ Removed dead tree from J.A. Carr Park entrance.
➢ Removed Wax Myrtles around Bob Eden Tennis Courts due to freeze.
➢ Began spraying pre -emergent at city facilities, parks, ROWS and medians.
➢ Chandler 0. and Larry P. attended Backflow Prevention Assembly course.
➢ Christmas Tree recycling event.
c. Total man hours for February 11— 281h = 471

➢ Trees stepped up at greenhouse
➢ Stumps removed around Bob Eden tennis courts.
➢ Sprayed pre -emergent at all city facilities, parks, ROWS and medians.
➢ Replaced aquatic park filter sand.
➢ Trimmed back roses and grasses throughout the city.
➢ Prepared plugs at greenhouse.
➢ Replaced sidewalk from Bob Eden to Trailwood.
➢ Randy L. and Chandler 0. attended arborist training class.
IIII. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report — Elizabeth Johnson
• Elizabeth reported on the Daddy Daughter Dance that was rescheduled to February
11, 2022 due to inclement weather. 120 tickets were sold out of 200.
• Elizabeth reported on The Great Scavenger Hunt with Dutch Bros. that was held on
February 26, 2022 through out city parks. All gift cards were located within 2 hours
of the start of the event.

• The Spring Field Day is scheduled for March 18, 2022.
• Elizabeth reported on the resurfacing of the gym floor. Great feedback was given
by patrons of the Euless Family Life Center.
• Elizabeth stated that we replaced 10 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 2 Stairmasters.
• Elizabeth reported on the slide replacement at the Aquatic Park and the draining of
the pool to get minor repairs completed.
b. Parks Report — Ryan Turner
• Ryan stated that the tennis courts at Bob Eden will be getting re -surfaced very
soon. Windscreens were put up at Bob Eden as well as the removal of the Wax
Myrtles.
• Ryan reported that the sidewalk was replaced from Bob Eden to Trailwood.
• Ryan reported that the sand in the sand filter at the Aquatic Park was replaced.
This task took several people two full days of work.
c. Community Services Report — Ray McDonald
• Ray gave a recap of the Winter Work Session with the City Council. Funding was
requested for outdoor Pickleball courts to be located at the far east end of the Senior
Center parking lot.
• Ray gave an overview of Blessing Branch project. Blessing Branch will connect from
Main St. to Fuller Wiser and will hopefully go out to bid early summer.
• Ray reported on the Wilshire Park project. We are 50% complete with the design
phase and will hopefully go out to bid early summer. Things that will be included in the
Wilshire Park project include a new playground, new pavilion and new restrooms.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
V. Other New Business

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
