HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-04-11 Historical Preservation Committee Minutes April 11, 2022 CALL TO ORDER With the absence of Chairperson Suzy McCormick, Mavy Wright called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at the Heritage Park Museum in Euless. She extended a welcome to the attendees and welcomed new members, Keith Jernigan and Patsy Hoover. MEMBERS PRESENT Doris Brown,Joe Cannon, Bill Golden, Patsy Hoover, Keith Jernigan, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Anniece McKanna, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Peggy Vandiver, and Mavy Wright. STAFF PRESENT Parks and Community Services staff,Jodie Dunn and Director Ray McDonald. VISITORS PRESENT None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Due to confusion with the minutes that were distributed by Email,the unapproved minutes of the March 2020 minutes will be postponed until the May 2022 meeting. TREASURER'S REPORT Treasurer Mavy Wright advised that the balance from March 9, 2020 was $13,472.51. Itemized transactions are listed below. Deposits from March 9, 2020 to March 14, 2022 were $677.00. Expenses from March 9, 2020 to March 14, 2022 was $5,937.01. The ending balance as of March 14, 2022 is $8,212.50. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment—a signup sheet for the May Open House was circulated. Discussion regarding changing the open hours of the Museum from Noon to 4pm was tabled until a future meeting. In the meanwhile,volunteers signed up to work those hours to test the attendance. 2. Acquisition-- no report. 3. Facebook—no report. Bill Golden stated he would make the Facebook page accessible to Linda Pool. She has been unable to provide updates. 4. Plaque—Mavy Wright and Faye Stinneford will undertake the purchase of plaques for Helen Voss and Iris Elliott. She reminded the attendees of the minimum of$25 to have their name added to a plaque. 5. Display Signs—Mavy Wright stated she needed assistance from PACS to prepare signage. Mr. McDonald said they would be available to do that. 6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—no report. 7. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long indicated her committee not been working on their projects since March 2020. She advised she is no longer able to serve as the Chairperson. 8. Heritage Park—Gary Parker had no report. 9. Artifact Recovery—no report. 10. Historical Tree Program—no report. 11. Inventory—no report. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Ms.Wright called attention to the new railing on the Museum stage which makes it easier to see the items on display; she thanked PACS for processing this request professionally and timely. STAFF REPORT Ray McDonald inquired if any members wanted a sign to post in their yards to advertise the Museum hours. No one expressed interest. HPC MTG 04112022 Page 2 of 3 COMMITTEE REPORT/INPUT 1. Anniece McKanna apologized for the confusion in sending the incorrect Committee meeting minutes. She also indicated an updated roster has been prepared -the status of members has also been updated to show Active, Inactive, and Deceased. Upon approval of the officers, the roster will be distributed. 2. Mavy Wright mentioned possible changes and improvements to the museum which have been suggested by the Chairperson, officers, and members. These will be discussed and voted on at a future meeting. ADJOURNMENT Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting,which was seconded by Joe Cannon.
