HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-03-16 FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD March 16, 2022 ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:28 A.M. at the City of Euless Public Works Building, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040 The following members were in attendance: Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor Dr. Susan Read City Council Member Eddie Price Staff Members Present: Asst. Director of Public Works Major Jones Animal Control Supervisor Larry Atkinson Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour Barbara Brown — Mid-Cities Community Cats ITEM 2 — REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 20, 2021 Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of October 20, 2021.With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written. ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON GAP Supervisor Atkinson reported that GAP held an adoption events at the Pet Supermarket in Colleyville - offering Christmas photos - raising $500 in addition to 2 adoptions and 1 dog placed in foster care. GAP participated in the National Pet Adoption Event at PetSmart, raising$36 and adopting out 1 animal, offering Valentines photos, raising $120, placing 1 dog in foster and adopting out another dog. They also held an event at the Lazy Dog, raising $127. GAP has also received a donation from Treetops School International which included $400 in cash, food, and toys. ITEM 4— QUARTERLY REPORT ACO Supervisor Atkinson reported that he, ACO Shelton, and ACO Kraft have recently completed the CEUs required for recertification. Supervisor Atkinson reported that there are 2 new certifications by Cy Luschen and Stacy Rodriguez-Duke. He also reported that ACO Shelton has completed 2 out of the 3 classes required to be a Certified Cruelty Investigator by the State of Texas. Council Member Price as if there were many Page 1 of 2 opportunities that they received cruelty calls. Supervisor Atkinson indicated that there were not. ITEM 5 — SHELTER/ FACILITY UPDATE Supervisor Atkins indicated that they have put in a request for a generator at the shelter in order to maintain electricity at the facility during severe weather events. He also reported that the animal shelter had a monkey surrendered that was transported to a refuge in San Antonio. ITEM 6 —QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Cranor asked if there were any question or comments. Council Member Price inquired about the complaint in the quarterly report about too many animals. Supervisor Atkinson indicated that this is typically a result of a resident complaint. Director Cranor mentioned that there is a consideration to adjust the animal shelter hours and suggested that they bring it before Mayor & Council. Barbara Brown stated that they appreciate the animal shelter referring individuals to Mid-Cities Community Cats. Director Cranor asked if there were any more questions or comments and there were none. ITEM 7 —ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 11:51 A.M.
