MEMBERS STAFF OTHERS Marcia Brown-absent Sherry Knight LuAnn Portugal Loretta Doty Angela Jones Mary Lib Saleh Carol Kveck Allan Gibbs Jim Hamilton Chris McAllister Mike McGehee Barney Snitz Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Mike McGehee asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of the December 4, 2014 meeting. Allan Gibbs made the motion to accept the minutes and Loretta Doty seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed the visitors to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Sherry Knight commented on the monthly statistical report. Sherry Knight introduced Angela Jones, Senior Librarian/Youth Services Coordinator. Angela discussed library services to children and youth. Sherry Knight commented on the Automatic Renewal of items and how it decreases overdue items. She addressed questions asked by the board members. Sherry Knight commented on the Parade of Lights and shared with the board the certificate we received for participating, and placing 2nd in the parade. ELECTION OF LIBRARY BOARD OFFICERS: Mike McGehee, Chairman of the Library Board, requested to not be considered as Chairman and opened the floor for nominations. Library board members made nominations and the nomination for Chairman of the Library Board was accepted by Barney Snitz. Loretta Doty made the motion to elect Barney Snitz as Chairman of the Library Board for 2015. Allan Gibbs seconded the motion. The motion carried. The Chairman opened the floor for nominations for Vice-Chairman of the Library Board. Barney Snitz nominated Loretta Doty. There were no further nominations. Loretta Doty accepted the nomination. Chris McAllister made the motion to elect Loretta Doty as Vice-Chairman of the Library Board for 2015. Allan Gibbs seconded the motion. The motion carried. Loretta Doty nominated Carol Kveck as Representative to the Euless Library Foundation for 2015. Carol Kveck accepted the nomination. Barney Snitz made the motion to elect Carol Kveck as Representative to the Euless Library Foundation. Chris McAllister seconded the motion. The motion carried. Page 2 Library Board Minutes January 8, 2015 DISCUSSIONS: I. Chris McAllister thanked Mike McGehee for his leadership. 2. Barney Snitz commented on Ellen Collins position and the Parade of Lights. 3. Allan Gibbs commented on the great job the Friends of the Library/ELF are doing with the book donations. 4. Allan Gibbs commented on the library Christmas decorations. 5. Allan Gibbs commented on the new library cards. 6. Jim Hamilton shared he is looking forward to working with the library board. CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS: Mary Lib Saleh commented on the DFW Airport expansion, new library Christmas decorations and the Flutasia performance. She also commented on what a great job the staff did with their entry to the Parade of Lights. LuAnn Portugal encouraged the board members to attend the library events and explained how great it is to interact with the community. ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Allan Gibbs.
