Crews work to fix a broken water main at a Trinity River Authority plant in Euless. CHOPPER 1 1 The Trinity River Authority, which supplies water to Euless, experienced a "significant leak" on a high service pipeline on Tuesday evening. Officials said the break took place at the plant on Trinity Boulevard at House Anderson Road. Euless city manager Loretta Getchell said she had been told that it could be four or five days before service is fully restored. Euless officials said that if water usage is not brought down to a manageable level, it could lead to reduced water pressure, reduced availability, and potentially a boil water notice. Thirteen other cities are supplied by the TRA, including Huntsville, Lakeview, and Livingston as well as others in Ellis, Tarrant, and Trinity Counties. So far, only Bedford has said that it is also having issues related to the break. The city is asking that residents pause sprinkler system usage to conserve enough water for drinking and bathing. The Euless proclamation asks residents and businesses to restrict outdoor water use to watering by handheld or soaker hose only, and to ensure that all sprinkler systems are turned off and are not leaking. Residents and businesses are also asked to not drain and refill swimming pools or engage in activities that use large amounts of water. Notably, these restrictions do not apply to locations using treated wastewater outflow for irrigation. For now, residents are not being asked to boil water and the water supply remains safe to drink. Bedford, Euless Residents Asked to Conserve Water Due to Break at Treatment Plant Published June 15, 2022 • Updated on June 15, 2022 at 5:35 pm Residents in Bedford and Euless are asked to conserve water for the next five days while a broken water line at a Trinity River Authority treatment plant is repaired. According to Bedford, the TRA notified them of a break in a 48-inch main at a treatment plant and issued a request for conservation. "In an effort to continue providing enough water for drinking and bathing to all residents, the city is requesting residents to pause all sprinkler systems over the next five days while critical repairs are made to the water line," the city said. Wednesday afternoon the city of Euless said they were also asked by the TRA to conserve water while repairs are made. "Euless has issued a Mayoral Proclamation restricting the use of sprinklers during this time," the city said. There are no currently no reports of any outages associated with the break in the water line and the water is safe to drink. Because the water is safe to drink, there is no boil water advisory in effect. Water Main Fixed, Bedford, Euless Residents Can Resume Normal Use Published June 16, 2022 • Updated on June 16, 2022 at 5:41 pm Residents in Bedford and Euless are able to once again use water normally, including using sprinkler systems, after being asked to conserve water earlier this week due to a broken water line at a Trinity River Authority treatment plant. According to Bedford, the TRA said a 48-inch main at a treatment plant in Euless ruptured. While the main was repaired, both Bedford and Euless put out a call to water customers to conserve water by curtailing the use of sprinkler systems. Because there were no reports of any outages associated with the break and no loss of pressure, a boil water advisory was never required. Euless Police Seize Video of Dangerous Street `Takeover' By Scott Gordon • Published June 16, 2022 • Updated on June 16, 2022 at 10:49 pm Euless police are investigating a dangerous street "takeover" in which young drivers burned rubber, did donuts and spun out of control within feet of a crowd of spectators -- and officers seized video from one of the participants. It happened about 2:15 a.m. Monday at the intersection of North Main Street and Midway Drive. "You can see the dangerous side of that and the potential for what could happen," Euless police Sgt. Scott Peterson said. "Innocent people who could be injured or killed is something we can't stand for at all." When officers arrived, they say someone started shooting off bottle rockets. One officer was hit in the head but wasn't seriously injured. Similar street takeovers have taken place in other cities but police say this is the first time in Euless. They don't want a repeat performance. Police released video from earlier this week of who they're looking for. The drivers were caught doing donuts, and the crowd surrounding them took over an intersection for the overnight stunting. When police arrived, the crowd used fireworks on police. Euless police are currently tracking license plates and obtaining arrest warrants for those involved. The department says this is the first organized street takeover they've seen in its city. Matt Coronado watched what woke his wife up early Monday morning inside their Euless home: street takeover on the other side of the fence. The marks from the burnt rubber are still seen on Friday. "She was in a panic and was like, 'Matt, I think something happened!"' he said. Around 2 a.m. Monday morning, Euless officers were called to the intersection of Midway and Main. Numerous street stunters were caught on camera. They and a crowd block the roadway while the drivers did burnouts and donuts. Passengers while hanging out windows while dozens of young spectators capture the takeover on their cell phones. Some were in ski masks. "When I saw the video, I was taken aback," said Euless Police Cpt. Brandon Zachary. As the crowd dispersed, sparking bottle rockets were thrown in the direction of police. "The kids that are out there. The young people out there, watching the stunting encouraging and yelling and climbing light pole to film," Zachary said. According to Euless police, no arrests were made Monday morning. But investigators confirm they're closing in on suspects shown in videos obtained by police. Euless PD says the Dallas Street Racing Task Force is also assisting. In Fort Worth city limits nearby, it's a criminal offense to be a spectator at street racing or stunting events. "That's the first loud thing we have heard since we have lived here," Coronado said. Coronado says he watched through his front window spectators scatter down his street. He now hopes they all stay away. I wouldn't expect it around here. This is a really quiet neighborhood," he said. The Euless Police Department also says one officer was hit in the head from one of the fireworks but didn't have to be transported to the hospital.
