HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-04-27170 Called Meeting Euless City Council April 27, 1957 Mayor Millican called a special session of his City Council for April 27, 1957, at 7 :30 p.m., to make some disposition of proposed Ordinance No. 74, an amendment to Ordinance No. 61, the Traffic Code for the City of Euless. And to give consideration to a plat submitted by Mid - Cities Development Company of Hurst, Texas. Council members. present and voting were: G. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and W. 0. Murray. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, and led in prayer by Councilman Anderson. The first order of business was the reading and approving of a l l minutes of past meetings. On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the Council, by unanimous vote, accepted the plat as presented by Mid - Cities Development Company, after revision. The plat is Bell Hi Addition. A second motion by Councilman Cadenhead provided that the Council instruct the City Secretary to notify Attorney George P. Gleeson that the City Council requests him to prepare an ordinance, an amendment to Ordinance No. 33, Section 12, Paragraph C, making the minimum width of a lot to be 65 feet at the front building line, provided etc. The motion received the necessary second by Councilman Horton and was unanimously approved and adopted. A motion by Councilman Anders, seconded by Councilman Anderson, stated that Ordinance No. 74, now pending approval, be tabled until some typographical errors could be corrected. The motion and second was withdrawn. Then Councilman Anderson offered a motion, seconded by Councilman Anders moving that the Council adopt Ordinance No. 74 with the errors having been corrected in the meeting. The corrections are: a. Under heading East Bound Traffic: (A -1) 1.05 miles be changed to read 3.51 miles (later authorized by Highway Engineer Stone). b. The next 0.21 miles, 55 miles per hour, to read 50 m.p.h. C. Following this there was added: "The next 0.21 miles, 55 m.p.h. d. The next .074 miles was changed to read, the next .74 miles. e. Under west bound traffic: (A -2). The first .074 miles was changed to read .74 miles, and the next following 50 m.p.h. night time was changed to read 55 m.p.h. night time. The next 1.05 miles was changed 1.74 (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, April 27, 1957) to read the next 3.517 miles. The motion included these corrections and was approved and adopted by a vote of 4 for and one against. Councilman Cadenhead opposing. Motion approved and adopted. Ordinance No. 74 on f i l e in Office of City Secretary. Councilman Adnerson offered a motion, seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, moving that the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission be accepted, rejecting Mr. L. E. Beavers application for commercial zoning of his plat for a trailer court. The Council found that the plans and plat were inadequate and the erection of a trailer court at this location was not conducive to good City planning. The motion was unanimously approved and adopted rejecting the petition of Mr. Beavers. On a final motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded by Councilman Murray, the City Secretary was authorized to purchase two metal school zone signs, 20 m.p.h. The motion was approved and adopted by unanimous vote. Councilman Cadenhead gave a very favorable report on the water situation and the prospects of the City receiving rental from Mr. Wisenbaker, even though he does not yet have the required number of water taps. The City Secretary, under the supervision of the Chief of Police, volunteered to erect the signs at the school when ready, without cost to the City. 9:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned by the Mayor at Minutes Approved: /s/ Ernest Millican, Jr. Attest: Mayor, Euless, Texas /s/ Thos.
