Euless City Council
June 1, 1957
The City Council met in regular session
on June 1, 1957, at 7 :30 p.m. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, presiding,
and Councilmen J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and W. 0.
Murray. Also present was City Secretary T. A. Kennard.
A motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Horton, was approved by unanimous vote appointing Councilman
Anders a committee to work up a system that can be used as the basis for
letting garbage pick -up and disposal contracts, suitable to both the
City and the applicant. Said plan to be presented to the City Council for
final disposition.
A motion by Councilman Horton, seconded
by Councilman Cadenhead, proposed that Attorney Gleeson be instructed to
prepare an ordinance requring a 31 foot width in pavement for a fifty foot
street, and others correspondingly. The motion was unanimously adoptdd.
Another motion by Councilman Horton,
seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, proposed that Attorney Gleeson be instructed
to prepare an ordinance making any and a l l approvals in city planning as
approved by the City Planning Commission, subject to final approval by the
City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
The City Secretary was instructed to
notify Councilman Anders of his appointment to work up plans for garbage
disposal contracts and send to Councilman Anders the application of Mr. M.R.
Tuggle. The C i t y Secretary was f u r t h e r instructed t o contact W i l l Jones,
now collecting garbage in the City, to get certain information from him and
request his presence at the next Council meeting.

Meeting with the Council were Mr. J. R.
Stone, Engineer for
the
State Highway Department and Attorney Geo.
Gleeson,
and Chief of Police
Earl
Stapleton.
The meeting was called to order
by Mayor
Millican, and led in
prayer
by Councilman Anderson.
First order of business was the
reading and
approving of the minutes
of past meetings.
Mr. Stone was heard in a rather
informative
talk on the position
of
the State Highway Department concerning the regulation
of speeds through cities
like Euless.
A motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Horton, was approved by unanimous vote appointing Councilman
