Minutes
April 13, 2015
CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Barbara Collier called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was
held at Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Drive, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michelle Burger, Bill Byers, Weldon Cannon, Barbara
Collier, Leon Hogg, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey, Robert Nail,
Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Mary Lib Saleh, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss, Andy
Weinzapfel and Mavy Wright.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS
Mayor Linda Martin and Linda Pool
STAFF PRESENT
Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Projects Coordinator Ofa Mary Faiva-Siale,
Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Senior Planner Stephen
Cook.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The word "hang" was left off on page 2, under New Business, item #3. Helen Voss made
a motion to approve the minutes. David Massey seconded the motion. Motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The balance was $11,811.60. There was a deposit of $27. The current balance is
$11,838.60.
GUEST SPEAKER
Stephen Cook discussed various new developments around Euless including long term
plans for areas such as Glade Park, etc. He presented on various developments along
the Highway 10 corridor. He also discussed the Highway 183 projects. He was very
informative and the Committee expressed their appreciation regarding his presentation.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Arbor Daze
a. Plan for the displays was discussed. Items will be delivered on Thursday and
picked up on Sunday.
b. Members asked about VIP parking passes. It was thought they wouldn't need
them but they will be mailed out to all the members that have volunteered to work.
c. Some members volunteered to serve as docents for the Committee's display.

2. North Euless Elementary School Presentation
a. Bill Byers did the presentation on April 9, 2015 and talked about the history of the
school. Over 100 people attended.
3. Time Period Costumes
a. Barbara Collier suggested sewing period costumes for the members to wear on
various occasions.
b. After a brief discussion, staff suggested that a group called the Texana Living
History Association, who dresses in period costumes, could be hired to attend
Christmas at Heritage Park so the Committee can get an idea about the proposal.
Staff will contact the group.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1 . Docent Reports / Recruitment—Mavy Wright
a. Everything went well with the tours; about 15 people attended.
2. Acquisitions—Bill Byers
a. A small Victrola about 27" long was recently acquired.
b. North Euless Elementary—a cast iron piece from possibly a stove door was
recently dug out of the property grounds. They donated the item to the Museum.
3. Library Display \ Website \ Facebook—
a. Marilyn Long spoke with the Library staff about displays. They are interested in a
rotating display. Maybe rotate two displays a year to start with.
b. Barbara Collier will contact Sherry Knight regarding various display items in the
History / Genealogy Room.
c. Anyone who has interesting photos to post on Facebook can send them to Mrs.
Collier and she can post them.
4. Heritage Park—Gary Parker
a. Staff from Parks and Community Services will be at Heritage Park to help start
work on the Blacksmith Shop this week.
b. Doris Brown made a motion to allow Gary Parker to purchase items for shelving
for the scrapbook closet not to exceed $600. Mary Lib Saleh seconded the motion.
No one opposed. Motion approved.
5. Local Historical Marker—Weldon Cannon
a. No Report
6. Publicity—Barbara Collier
a. Discussed the need to purchase Plexiglas display boxes. Bill Byers made a
motion to purchase the items. Mary Lib Saleh seconded the motion. All were in
favor.

7. Plaque—Faye Stinneford
a. Will add Barbara Collier and Mavy Wright to the ChairmanNice-chairman Plaque.
8. Display Signs—Mavy Wright
a. Ongoing.
9. Oral History \ Photography—Gary Fieldsend
a. No Report
10.Historical Albums—Marilyn Long
a. A work session is scheduled for Wednesday to continue prioritizing the albums.
11.Artifact Recovery—Andy Weinzapfel
a. Had a meeting with the Sikh leaders regarding an early education Texas State
Historical Marker for the property on Highway 10 and Cullum Drive. They are
interested in acquiring the marker and willing to pay for it. Weldon Cannon
has completed about 98% of the historical narrative.
b. Acquiring permission to metal detect at various locations around the City.
12.Texas State Historical Marker Application—Bill Golden
a. No report
STAFF REPORT
1. Near to completing the brochure project. After final proof, the draft will be sent in for
printing. A distribution company will be hired to distribute the brochures to various
display centers.
COMMITTEE / OTHER REPORTS
1. Leon Hogg reported that James Fuller was taken to the hospital recently. He may be
released to go home soon. The members expressed their concern for Mr. Fuller.
2. Faye Stinneford reminded everyone to go vote.
3. Mary Lib Saleh reported that the Library Foundation will also be inside the Library
during Arbor Daze. There will be other activities in the Library and she's excited about
everything.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Doris Brown seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:47 a.m.
