Parks and Leisure Services Board
March 2,2015
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Pre-Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Eric Owens. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Randy Jones, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty,
Roger Sickler,Jason Reyes, and Salman Bhojani.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, and Administrative Secretary Jordan
Peterson.
Visitors present: No visitors present.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
February 5, 2015 regular meeting. Mr. Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Mr. Doty. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports

b. Salman Bhojani—Bob Eden &Trailwood: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith—Villages of Bear Creek& Reflection: No items to report.

f. Chairman Owens—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.

i. Chairman Owens reported on the following Special Events:
• February 13—Father/Daughter Dance—150 people
• February 14—Mother/Son Brunch—40 people
• February 14—Historical Mural Unveiling—30 people

II. Volunteer of the Month
j. Chairman Owens announced the March 2015 Volunteer of the Month award goes to
Kathie Jackson with Chick-fil-a. Ms. Jackson has been a very supportive volunteer by
coordinating donations from her organization. For the past two years she has organized
the donation of food for the father/daughter dance and mother/son brunch. This year she
really worked hard to make it special for all the attendee's. She brought door prizes, a gift
for each child, gift cards for a free sandwich at chick-fil-a and their mascot to take pictures
and dance with the kids. Ms. Jackson was not able to attend the meeting, her plaque will
be delivered to her.
Ill. Business of the Tree Board
Tiffany Smith reported the following for February:
a. Total man hours for February 1-28=495
• 186.00 Horticulture
• 123.00 Forestry
• 168.00 Greenhouse
• 0.00 Special Projects
• 18.00 Training
• Removed dead Pecan stump at J.A. Carr Park next to building.
• Cleaned fence line at Cresthaven Highland lots.
• Trimmed trees on Pipeline Rd. at P.A.T.S. entrance.
• Trimmed trees at Blessing Branch around security lights.
• Removed fallen limbs due to high winds and ice throughout park system.
IV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Discussed upcoming events:
• Hometown Food Bank—March 9
• Spring Break Concert—March 13
• Trash Off—April 11
• Arbor Daze—April 24/25
• Recreation staff is working on summer programs and the summer Playbook.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Updated board about ADA projects in the park.
• Informed the board about new vendor taking over mowing contract for the city.
• South Euless pool demolition is still scheduled to begin spring break.
• Discussed damages to field at Villages of Bear Creek.
Chairman Owens thanked the staff for their reports.

Mr. Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
