Called Meeting
Euless City Council
July 11,1957
The City Council was called for a special
session by Mayor Millican for July 11, 1957, at 7:30 p.m.
Present were Mayor Ernest Mi 11 ican, Jr.,
presiding; and Councilmen G. L. Anders, J. 5. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul
Horton, and W. 0. Murray.
Meeting with the Council were Messrs. Warren
Fuller, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Ross Cannon and John
E. Morgan.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to
discuss further proposed changes in the operation of the police department.
Chief of Police Stapleton was sick and unable to attend the meeting.
On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Horton, it was moved that no permit to collect garbage within
the city limits would be issued to anyone until he or they can and w i l l comply
with provisions of Ordinance No. 43, Garbage Disposal Ordinance, give a
monthly accounting of a l l business done w i t h an up -to -date l i s t of new customers,
furnish proper insurance or bonding as is deemed by the City to be necessary.
The 2 %gross tax to be payable in August for the month of July and each
succeeding month thereafter. Collectors to be given two weeks from this date
to comply or services to cease until compliance is made. The motion was
adopted by unanimous vote. (The City Secretary was instructued to notify
collectors of the Council's action and to see that instructions are complied
with.)
On a third and final motion by Councilman
Anders, seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, the City Secretary was instructed
to alter the charge for the rent of the City Hall to Midway Lodge 2121, from
$15.00 per meeting to $12.50 per meeting. The motion was adopted by unanimous
vote.

the past with
the exceptions
that the collector
of garbage be given a permit

turn entitle
the City of Euless
to a 2 %gross tax to be paid each
month by the
permittee, not
later than the 10th
of the month. The motion was
adopted by a
vote of four for
and one against.
Councilman Cadenhead opposed
the adoption
of the motion.
