WORK SESSION OF THE
EULESS CITY COUNCIL
August 1, 2020
A work session of the Euless City Council was called to order at 8:30 a.m. on
Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the Texas Star Golf Course and Conference Centre,
1400 Texas Star Parkway, Euless, Texas, for the purpose of discussing the
proposed annual budget and related items for Fiscal Year 2020-2021.

City Manager Getchell provided an overview of the budget and advised that in light
of the COVID-19 global pandemic, staff has reviewed all programs and services
offered by the City and have made adjustments as necessary to address safety
concerns and to identify cost savings to offset the economic impact of the
pandemic. She advised that the property tax rate is proposed to remain at 46.25
cents per $100 of assessed valuation, which equates to a 3.27 percent increase
from last year's budget. In response to expected revenue shortfalls, no baseline
salary increases have been proposed and departmental cuts have been made
within all areas with an emphasis on maintaining funding for public safety. She
reviewed the projected increases for water and wastewater, funding for the annual
street overlay program, and staffing levels.
Assistant City Manager Barker presented and highlighted a few of the Capital
projects, including water and wastewater line projects, miscellaneous drainage
improvements, streets repairs and reconstruction, park projects, and the
reconstruction of Fire Station No. 1.
Discussion ensued regarding drainage mitigation and flooding in certain areas of
the city, and commercial and residential development taking place in the city.
