HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-1626 08-22-2022RESOLUTION NO. 22-1626 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN ADVANCE FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ROADWAY AND ADA IMPROVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION MID-CITIES/CHEEK SPARGER ROAD AND STATE HIGHWAY 121. WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Cities of Euless and Bedford agree that roadway and ADA improvements are needed at the intersection of Mid -Cities Boulevard/Cheek Sparger Road and State Highway 121 (SH 121) (referenced as TXDOT CSJ 0747-03-082); and WHEREAS, increasing traffic volume and pedestrian traffic at the intersection of Mid -Cities Boulevard/Cheek Sparger Road and State Highway 121 contribute to the decline in safety on these frontage roads; and WHEREAS, traffic safety is a primary concern throughout the State Highway System; and WHEREAS, roadway and ADA improvements at the intersection of Mid -Cities Boulevard/Cheek Sparger and State Highway 121 will significantly reduce the traffic volumes and improve safety and traffic flow on the frontage roads; and WHEREAS, the governing bodies of each municipality finds that the project is necessary for the benefit of the public in order to facilitate the efficient and effective management of vehicle and pedestrian traffic through and on public roads located within their respective jurisdictions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City of Euless agrees to fund the engineering and design portion of the project for the roadway and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements at the intersection of Mid -Cities Boulevard/Cheek Sparger and State Highway 121. The City of Euless will also be responsible for all overruns of the project. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, hereby authorizes City Manager Loretta Getchell to enter into and execute the Advance Funding Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation as it relates to TXDOT CSJ 0747-03-082. ADOPTED AND APPROVED at the regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the August 22, 2022, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
