HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-07-23Called Meeting Euless City Council July 23, 1957 The City Council was called in a special session by Mayor Millican for 5:30 p.m., July 23, 1957. Presiding was Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., with Councilmen G. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, and Paul Horton present and voting. Councilman Murray was unable to attend the meeting, but expressed himself as favoring the actions of the Council in the selection of a Chief of Police. The first purpose of the meeting was to consider the application of Mr. C. W. Barnes for Chief of Police of the City of Euless. On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead, it was moved that the City of Euless employ Mr. Barnes as Chief of Police at a salary of $350.00 per month, effective August Ist, such arrangement to run for sixty days, after which salary adjustments would be made deemed fair to all. Action on the motion was delayed for lack of a second. The City Secretary was instructed to send post cards to other applicants who had been interviewed and eliminated, thanking them for their interests and advising them not to consider this position. Mayor Millican called another special meeting for July 24, 1957, at 6:45 p.m., to consider further the selection of a Chief of Police. Attest: /s/ Thos. A.
