MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, AUGUST 4,2022
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order by Chairperson Barney Snitz at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in the Meeting Room of the Library, 201 N. Ector Drive.
Those present included: Chairperson Snitz, Vice Chairperson Jorge Chac, and Board Members
Jim Hamilton, Katherine Flannery, Rochelle Ragas, and Chris McAllister. Board Members Mike
McGehee and Mavy Wright were not present.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairperson Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on June 2,
2022. Board Member Ragas noted two corrections needed. The motion was made by Vice
Chairperson Chac to accept the minutes as corrected and seconded by Board
Member Hamilton. All were in favor and the motion carried.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairperson Snitz welcomed all visitors.
ITEM NO.4 PRESENTED LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Library Update
Ms. Knight presented "Stories of Impact" that have taken place over the past month. Ms. Knight
presented statistics for the months of June and July. She noted that checkouts, new patron accounts,
program attendance, and visits continue to increase.
❖ Classes and Events Update
Ms. Knight reviewed June and July special events and mentioned that children's programs are
currently on a two -week break. The Library Book Scavenger Hunt passive program offered during
this break has been very popular. Ms. Knight mentioned that the library is hosting a blood drive
on Saturday, August 6, in conjunction with Blood Donors of America and the Red Cross. English
as a Second Language class continues in partnership with Fort Worth ISD Adult Education.

Mr. Chac inquired about providing resume classes. Ms. Knight reported that Assistant Library
Director Angela Jones is working with a representative from Goodwill Industries to provide
computer training classes, including resume classes, with a tentative start date of January 2023.
Ms. Knight reported that Ms. Jones is also investigating partnering with Catholic Charities to
provide citizenship classes.
Mr. Chac mentioned his support for this, and that he previously worked for Catholic Charities and
taught citizenship classes himself.
Ms. Knight reported that the library will be closed on Monday, August 29 for training for a new
software platform. She gave a brief overview of the reasons for the change and let the board know
that she would have a full report on the new software features at an upcoming board meeting.
Mr. McAllister praised the graphic design of the August program flyer and inquired if the library's
website could be updated in a similar way. Ms. Knight explained that she has held off on making
major website changes due to the upcoming software platform migration.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairperson
Mr. Snitz reported that the music group Paladin will be performing at Texas Star Pavilion on
Friday, August 5, and encouraged everyone to attend. Mr. Snitz reported on the availability of
Senior Classes at Tarrant County College and that it is a great program.
Library Board Vice Chairperson
Vice Chairperson Chac inquired about the meaning of the term "passive program." Ms. Knight
explained that it is a program that does not have a set start time and can be experienced any time
the library is open (such as a scavenger hunt).
Vice Chairperson Chac also praised the library's graphic design and complimented staff member
Denise Olson on her talents.
Library Board Members
Mr. McAllister suggested that the library take advantage of the release of the latest Harry Potter
and the Order of the Phoenix graphic novel with a special event.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS

ITEM NO.7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Board Member
Hamilton and seconde by Board Member Ragas. The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
