Woman Killed After Driver Flees Euless
Traffic Stop
Dashcam video from the officer's patrol unit shows in part
what led up to the fatal crash.

Fort Worth Police said a woman was killed Tuesday night after the driver of a different
car trying to escape police during a traffic stop in Euless crashed into her. After the
suspect's car hit a utility pole, the driver ran from the scene but was captured.
Tuesday afternoon Euless Police released an edited portion of the officer's dash camera
video showing what led up before the deadly crash, which ended up in Fort Worth.
According to Euless Police, an officer on southbound Farm-to-Market Road 157 noticed
the driver of a black Ford Focus had two different license plates, one which was expired
from 2020 and another that didn't match the vehicle.
Police said in a statement Wednesday morning that as the driver turned east on Trinity
Boulevard the officer turned on his lights to get the driver to pull over just before
midnight. When the driver didn't stop the officer turned on his siren. Instead of pulling
over, the driver sped up.
Euless Police said in a statement that because the driver of the Focus was believed to
have committed only traffic offenses, the officer did not pursue the vehicle any further,
and deactivated his lights and siren then slowed down.
About a half-mile up the road, the officer reported seeing a bright flash near Trinity
Boulevard and Euless South Main Street in the Fort W orth city limits. As the officer
approached, he reported the driver of the Focus crashed into a Nissan Versa and a
utility pole.
Euless Police said the officer reported seeing the driver of the Focus exit the vehicle
and try to escape on foot. A male passenger was trapped inside the Focus, police said,
and the woman driving the Versa was unresponsive.
Innocent Fort Worth driver
killed as suspect flees police

FORT WORTH, Texas - An innocent Fort Worth woman is dead after police say a
driver trying to flee from a traffic stop crashed into her.
Euless police released dashcam video from Tuesday night showing their officers
following the suspects' car.
Police say they tried to pull over two men, but they drove off and ran a red light at
the intersection of Trinity Boulevard and Euless South Main Street in Fort Worth.
The victim they hit was a woman in her 20s and died at the scene.
With lights and sirens on, the Euless officer tried to pull over the black Ford
Focus. The department says he observed its front and back license plates were
not the same. One did not belong on the car, and the other was expired.
However, just seconds later, the officer abandoned the pursuit.
"After a few moments, it appeared the vehicle was speeding up," explained
Euless Police Capt. Brenda Alvarado. "And the officer knew he only had traffic
violations, so he made a decision not to continue."
The dashcam video shows the moment the officer disengaged and pulled back.
The Ford Focus kept traveling at a high rate of speed.
The officer’s camera recorded a large flash when the driver hit a transformer and
also struck a 27-year-old woman in another vehicle. She was killed upon impact.
One of her relatives tells FOX 4 that she was a bright, young woman who had
just completed a doctorate degree in occupational therapy.
"It’s an extremely tragic incident that this driver’s action has cost someone else
their life," Alvarado said.
Police say the criminal driver got out and tried to run. He was quickly captured. A
passenger in that vehicle who was trapped inside is also in custody.
The location of the crash happened in Fort Worth, which means Fort Worth PD is
handling the main investigation.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A woman died after a driver who was eluding police
crashed into her vehicle in Fort Worth late Tuesday night, officials said.
The crash happened shortly before midnight at the intersection of Trinity
Boulevard and South Main Street, just south of Euless in far northeast Fort
Worth.
Euless officers had tried to pull over a Ford Focus with expired plates, but the
driver "began to quickly accelerate to evade the officer," according to a police
news release.
The officer chose not to chase the vehicle "due to the vehicle committing only
traffic offenses," the release said.
The car kept heading east on Trinity Boulevard for about a half-mile when the
officer saw "bright flash of light" at the intersection of Trinity and South Main.
When the officer drove up to the intersection, he saw the suspect had crashed
into another car.
The suspect left the scene on foot, while another man was still trapped in his
vehicle, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was unresponsive. MedStar responded
and the woman was pronounced dead.
Her name has not been released.
The name of the suspect has not been released. While he initially fled the scene,
police said he was taken into custody on a charge of evading arrest.

An Irish woman was tragically killed in Texas last week after a driver crashed into her
car while attempting to evade a traffic stop.
Melissa Mapa, who grew up in South Dublin before moving to the US to study at the
University of Texas in Arlington, died in a collision in Euless, Fort Worth on Tuesday,
May 10 at approximately 11:55 pm.
Mapa's friends in Ireland confirmed to IrishCentral that she was killed in the tragic
accident.
According to Fort Worth Police, a Euless police officer attempted to stop the driver of a
black Ford Focus vehicle who was driving with two different license plates, one of which
had expired.
The officer turned on his lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop, but instead of pulling
over, the driver sped up and subsequently collided with a passenger vehicle traveling in
the opposite direction, Fort Worth Police said in a press release.
Mapa suffered serious injuries in the collision and was unresponsive. She died shortly
afterward.
Marcus Dunson, who heard the crash, told local news outlet 5NBC that he witnessed a
police officer check Mapa's pulse and shake his head.
"He reached in to feel the lady's pulse and shook his head and I'm assuming she's
gone," Dunson told 5NBC.
The suspect got out of his car following the collision and attempted to flee the scene,
but officers were able to apprehend him nearby, police said in a statement.
A passenger was also trapped in the front seat of the suspect's car following the
collision. His condition remains unknown.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was arrested for evading arrest in
Euless and may face further charges.
The Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is currently investigating the
fatal collision.
Innocent Driver Killed in High-Speed
Police Pursuit
BY LEE BULLEN, ZENGER NEWS ON 5/16/22 AT 3:46 PM EDT
A female driver died when a motorist fleeing the police crashed into her car even though
cops had already given up the high-speed chase.
The fatal crash took place in the city limits of Fort Worth, Texas, on May 10.
An officer attempted to stop a car when its license plates did not match, but within
seconds the vehicle was fleeing at high speed.
Officers quickly gave up the chase as the driver had committed only driving offenses,
but he kept going at a high speed and crashed into a Nissan Versa, killing the female
driver, officers revealed.
Euless City Police Department (ECPD) said in a statement on Wednesday: "On
Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at approximately 11:53 p.m., an officer with the Euless Police
Department observed a black Ford Focus traveling southbound on FM 157 in Euless.
"The vehicle displayed two different license plates. The front license plate did not return
to the vehicle. The rear license plate showed to be expired September 2020.
"The officer initiated a traffic stop with emergency lights as the vehicle began to travel
east on Trinity Blvd from FM 157. He activated his siren when the vehicle failed to yield.
"The vehicle began to quickly accelerate to evade the officer. Due to the vehicle
committing only traffic offenses, the officer did not pursue the vehicle. He deactivated
his emergency lights and siren and reduced his speed."
However, the driver of the Ford Focus continued east at a high speed.
The police said: "Approximately a half mile east from where the vehicle fled, the officer
observed a bright flash of light at Trinity Blvd and Euless South Main Street in the city
limits of Fort Worth."
The officer reported that the Focus driver had crashed into a Nissan Versa and a utility
pole just up the road.
The officer witnessed the suspect fleeing on foot before coming across a male
passenger trapped in the Focus.
ECPD said: "As the officer approached the intersection, he observed the suspect
vehicle had crashed. He saw the driver exit the driver's side of the vehicle and flee
southbound.
"There was a male passenger found still trapped inside the suspect vehicle. The officer
then observed another vehicle, a white Nissan Versa, had been struck by the suspect
vehicle.
"The officer approached the Nissan Versa and observed a female driver who was
unresponsive.
"Additional Euless officers arrived on scene and began life-saving efforts until Medstar
arrived to provide medical aid."
The police said they promptly detained the Focus driver, adding that the woman,
reportedly in her 20s, died of her injuries and that they are "investigating the fatality
accident."

a human sacrifice before setting their bodies on fire in a Fort Worth dumpster last
fall. He’s also charged in the death of his roommate and suspected in the death
