Euless City Council
August 3, 1957
The City Council met in regular session on
August 3, 1957, at 6:30 p.m.
Present and presiding was Mayor Pro Tern
J. S. Anderson and Councilmen G. L. Anders, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton,
and W. 0. Murray answered roll call.
Guests of the Council for various purposes
were Messrs. W. M. Sustaire, Geo. P. Gleeson, A. E. Tillery and Bob Brady.
The reading of past m nutes was postponed
and under order of old business, the hiring of a Chief of Police was
reopened for discussion.
On a motion by Counci man Murray, seconded
by Councilman Anders, it was moved that the City of Eu ess hire Mr. W. M.
Sustaire as Chief of Police at a salary of $100.00 per week, payable
weekly, the City to allow Mr. Sustaire $100.00 per year cash for uniforms,
a two -weeks paid vacation after one year's service with the City, Mr.
Sustaire to make bond of $1000.00, the premium to be paid by the City
of Euless, the effective date of employment to begin contingent on Mr.
Sustaire's release from his present job. The motion was approved by
unanimous vote.
Councilman Cadenhead offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Anders that the City agree to join the fire
department in the purchase of a water fountain, each paying half. The
motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
Another motion was offered by Councilman
Cadenhead, with a second from Councilman Horton, that W i I I Jones be granted
a permit to collect garbage in the City if and when he complies with the
provisions of the contract governing the permit. The motion received
unanimous approval.
Councilman Cadenhead moved that Ordinance
No. 81, rezoning Mr. A. E. Glenn's tract of land to commercial, be approved
contingent on Mr. Glenn's payment of the cost of legal paper work and
the drawing of the ordinance covering the change. The motion was approved
by unanimous vote.
A motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Anders, moved that the Council approve the revision of the
Ross Cannon Subdivision changing the course of Ross Avenue through the
subdivision. The motion was approved by unanimous vote.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.rr..
