Called Meeting
Euless City Council
August 10, 1957
The Council met in a special session on
August 10, 1957, at 2:30 p.m.
Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr.,
presiding, and Councilmen G. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead,
Paul Horton, and W. 0. Murray.
Meeting with the Council were Messrs.
A. E. Glenn, M. J. Moore, and W. M. Sustaire.
After Mayor Millican administered the
Oath of Office to Chief of Police appointee, W, M. Sustaire, other
business matters were taken up.
Councilman Anderson offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Murray, that Mr. A. E. Glenn be requested to pay
for the insertion of public notice in the Mid - Cities News, incident to
the change in zoning of his acreage as set out in Ordinance No. 81.
The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
Councilman Horton made a motion, with
a second from Councilman Anders, moving that Ordinance No. 81, zoning the
A. E. Glenn acreage to a commercial status. The motion was adopted by
unanimous vote.
On a motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman Anders, Ordinance No. 82 was adopted approving
the amending of Ordinance No. 79, Section 5, Subsection 7, "Street
Widths" and Section 5, Subsection 5, "Street Grades ". The vote was
unanimous.
Councilman Anders offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Anderson, that the City of Euless terminate the
services of Geo. P. Gleeson as City Attorney effective August 15, 1957,
and a letter be prepared by which the Mayor might so notify Mr. Gleeson
of the Council's action. The vote to terminate Mr. Gleeson's services
was unanimous.
Ch a motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman Murray, it was moved that the City of Euless
employ Attorney Wm. L. Bondurant of Arlington as City Attorney for the
City of Euless. The motion was approved by unanimous vote.
Ch a motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman Anders, it was moved that the City Secretary have
the necessary insurance made to cover the police car and pay for same out
of the regular city funds. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.

The City Secretary was instructed to send
to the Mid -City News an item calling attention to the garbage pick -up
now available, certain requirements by the City as to size and keeping of
containers and to mention also that the City has a Chief of Police on
duty who can be reached at telephones Butler 3-1623 or Atlas 4 -1645.
