Euless City Council
August 12, 1957
The City Council met in a special session
August 12, 1957, at 7:15 p.m.
Mayor Millican presided with Councilmen
J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and W. 0. Murray present.
A motion was offered by Councilman
Cadenhead, seconded by Councilman Horton, proposing that Chief of Police
Sustaire be autHorized to make purchases of needed items such as uniforms,
signs on police car, rubber stamps, speedometer calibration, police badge,
and other items needed and have same charged to the City of Euless, to be
paid out of the general funds. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
On a motion by Councilman Horton, seconded
by Councilman Murray, the City was asked to authorize the trade of a six volt
radio in Mr. Stapleton's car for a 12 volt radio, and pay the difference of
not more than $60.00 for cost of radio installation, and other incidental
expenses. The motion was approved by unanimous vote.
Councilman Cadenhead offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Murray, that the City approve the City Secretary's
issuing of a permit for a Gulf Service Station on Highway 183, between
M i l l s fruit stand and Sterling's Courts. The motion received uanimous
approva 1.
After some discussion, it was believed
that Mr. Cannon should be consulted before writing Mr. Harrison a letter
asking that the junk cars be removed Prom in the rear of Phillips Station
66 here i n the City.
The City Secretary was instructed to contact
Mr. Hillis and advise him of the City's action in terminating Mr. Gleeson's
services and engaging the services of Mr. Bondurant.
By declaration, Councilman Cadenhead made
the effective date of Mr. Sustaire's employment as of August 12. The City
Secretary took the Council's silence as evidence of approval and began
payment on said date, contingent on proper Council action at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
