Minutes
September 12, 2022
CALL TO ORDER
Acting Chairperson Mavy Wright called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. The meeting
was held at the Heritage Museum, Euless. She extended a welcome to the attendees.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Patsy Hoover, Keith Jernigan, Marilyn Long, Anniece McKanna, Gary Parker,
Helen Payton, Linda Pool, Peggy Vandiver, and Mavy Wright.
STAFF PRESENT
Parks and Community Services Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn.
VISITORS PRESENT
None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Gary Parker made a motion to accept the June 13, 2022 minutes as written. Doris Brown
seconded the motion. With unanimous approval, Ms. Wright stated the motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Mavy Wright advised that the balance as of June 13, 2022 was $8,140.52. A
deposit of $113.42 was made ($49 was collected in the money jar at the June meeting and a
$25 donation was made in memory of O.D. Lively). The ending balance is $8,214.52. With
the recent passing of O.D. Lively and David Massey, Ms. Wright advised donations could be
made on their behalf for the memorial plaque.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment—the volunteer signup sheets were
circulated for the October and November Heritage Park Open Houses for the hours of
Noon until 4pm. There were 12 visitors to the June Open House. Linda Pool indicated a
Trinity High School class reunion would be taking place on October 8 and the attendees
are being invited to tour the museum between 10am-2pm. There will also be another
Class reunion on October 22; a docent signup sheet was circulated. There was a
discussion about the Docent Packet and if it was still being distributed to new members;
the packet is needing updates. Ms. Wright invited anyone to stay after today's meeting

to discuss scheduling a docent training. It was also mentioned to Jodie Dunn that
several new members had not received badges, TShirts, or denim shirts. A brief
discussion as to the status of Christmas in the Park and the City Christmas Parade.
2. Acquisition —Gary Parker stated a September 1963 newspaper article was donated by
Geneva Miser regarding a Euless slogan contest which was awarded to her mother, Ann
Lawson. Ms. Wright also showed a 1944 Fuller Brothers calendar she acquired at a
recent Nail estate sale.
3. Facebook—no report.
4. Plaque —With the passing of O.D. Lively and David Massey, members can bring
donations to the September meeting or give to Ms. Wright for a memorial plaque.
5. Display Signs—Mavy Wright stated this is a work in progress.
6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—Mavy Wright mentioned she and Suzy McCormick have
been attending monthly Grapevine Historical Society meetings. The meetings have
speakers our group might find interesting. A suggestion was made that one of them
could be scheduled to speak at a monthly Open House. Ms. Wright stated their
September 26 meeting would feature a speaker on Bird's Fort and Viridian.
7. Historical Albums —it was recommended this topic be removed from future meeting
agendas.
8. Heritage Park —Mr. Parker had no report.
9. Artifact Recovery —It was recommended this topic be removed from future meeting
agendas. Ms. McCormick and Ms. Wright will be following up with Andy Weinzapfel's
wife to obtain items in their possession.
10. Historical Tree Program— It was recommended this topic be removed from future
meeting agendas.
11. Inventory —Keith Jernigan is loaning an ax that belonged to his family. His son-in-law
had gathered some information online to accompany the ax. There was a discussion
about the status of the inventory software that is being maintained by the PACS
Department. Ms. Dunn was not aware of the software but would check when she
returned to her office.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - No report
STAFF REPORT - Ms. Dunn stated her office phone line had received inquiries on Saturday
about the museum hours.
COMMITTEE REPORT/INPUT
The following attended the Open House on September 10: a group of Spring Garden
Elementary School Cub Scouts and leaders, six other adults, and a grandmother and
granddaughter. One couple from Farmersville (Julie and Hal Erickson) was extremely
interested in our Audie Murphy exhibit. Julie expressed interest in making a
presentation to us regarding the information she has been accumulating.
An update was given on several of our members who were having health issues.
Mr. Jernigan inquired as to distributing museum brochures to area retirement homes.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Linda Pool. The
meeting adjourned at 11:20a.m.
