HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-185 07-25-1967 RESOLUTION NO. 185 A RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PETITION OF LONE STAR GAS COMPANY FOR A RATE ADJUSTMENT FOR NATURAL GAS SERVICE IN THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS. Whereas, the Lone Star Gas Company is the franchised supplier of natural gas to the citizens of Euless, Texas, and Whereas, the Lone Star Gas Company has petitioned the City of Euless to authorize a natural gas service rate adjustment in the City of Euless, and Whereas, pursuant to Article II of the Euless City Charter, a public hearing is required for City regulation of natural gas service rates charged in the City of Euless, and Whereas, the Euless City Council has determined that a public hearing should be called to permit the Lone Star Gas Company to submit publically, evidence in support of the requested rate change. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EULESS CITY COUNCIL: .I . That a public hearing should be held on the 22nd day of August, 1967, at 8:00 P.M. , in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall , 201 Ector Drive, at which time the Lone Star Gas Company and its ' representatives shall submit publically, evidence in support of the requested rate change. II , That a copy of such proposed new rate schedule is attached to this resolution as Exhibit A and is incorporated herein by reference. III , That a copy of this Resolution be publically posted at the Euless City Hall , 201 Ector Drive for a period of fifteen (15) days prior to such public hearing date and, further, that publication be made in official news- paper of the City of Euless as required by the Euless City Charter and the applicable statutes of State of Texas. Resolution adopted this 25th day of July, 1967 at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council , by a vote of 4 ayes and 0 nayes. M. , at which time parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard con- cerning a proposed rate adjustment requested by Lone Star Gas Company, the proposed rate adjustment being more fully described in Exhibit "A" which is attached to this Notice and by reference is incorporated herein and made a part of this Notice for all purposes. Fuller City of Euless 201 Ector Euless, Texas Dear Mayor Fuller: Lone Star Gas Company desires to have the City Commission give consideration to a change in its minimum bill, a matter which we have discussed with you previously. In effect it would reduce the present 1,000 cu. ft. to 800 cu. ft. for $1.584, which would mean an increase of twenty-seven cents (.27¢) per month for the average customer, or a total of $3.24 annu- ally. This adjustment would mean an increase of only 4.02% to the customer. Also, the proposed change would result in no gas bill rendered to any residential or commercial consumer served under the proposed rate not consuming any gas during any monthly billing period. Pursuant to your request, we are listing data reflecting change in proposed rate for Euless wherein an increase in Street and Alley Rental could be added to the first step of the basic rate or to the step rates for all but the first step of the basic rate in lieu of a tax pass-on as such. Following are shown the first step net charge in the proposed rate which would be required (as compared to $1.584) to recover in that step the entire amount of a 1% or a 2% increase in Street and Alley Rental: 1% $1.660 or 2% $1.730 If the entire amount of Street and Alley Rental increase is spread over all steps of the proposed rate except the first the following increments should be added to the step rates: 1% .010 or 2% .020 ITEM IV Council Minutes July 25, 1967 More than 6,000 friendly people working together to serve our communities better . � _ The basic proposed rate with the current 2% Street and Alley Rental is as follows: First 800 cu. ft. or fraction thereof $1.760 gross; $1.584 net Next 1,200 cu. ft. @ $1.482 per MCF gross; $1.334 per MCF net Next 3,000 cu. ft. @ .927 per MCF gross; .834 per MCF net Next 20,000 cu. ft. @ .649 per MCF gross; .584 per MCF net Over 25,000 cu. ft. @ .593 per MCF gross; .534 per MCP net Gross Reciepts paid to the city of Euless for 1966 amounted to $4,681.41. The average residential consumer in Euless paid $75.96 for gas service in 1966. The return on our plant investment in Euless averaged 5.40% for 1965 and 1966.
