Minutes
October 10, 2022
CALL TO ORDER
Acting Chairperson Mavy Wright called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting
was held at the Heritage Museum, Euless. She extended a welcome to the attendees.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Weldon Cannon, James Fuller, Patsy Hoover, Keith Jernigan, Marilyn Long,
Anniece McKanna, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Linda Pool, Peggy Vandiver, and Mavy
Wright.
STAFF PRESENT
Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald and Parks and Community
Services Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn.
VISITORS PRESENT
Bill Griffith, Lolita Williams, and Denise Chandler.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Gary Parker made a motion to accept the September 12, 2022 minutes as written. Doris
Brown seconded the motion. With unanimous approval, Ms. Wright stated the motion
carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Mavy Wright advised that the balance as of September 12 was $8,214.52. A
deposit of $22 was made from money jar. The ending balance is $8,236.52. With the
recent passing of O.D. Lively and David Massey, Ms. Wright advised donations could be
made on their behalf for the memorial plaque (a minimum donation of $25 will allow the
donor's name to be placed on the plaque).
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment—Linda Pool indicated there were 7
visitors to the October Open House. She expressed appreciation to those who
performed double -duty due to lack of docent availability. Docent sheets were circulated
for the November and December Heritage Park Open Houses for the hours of Noon until
4pm. Linda reminded the members there will be a Trinity High School Class reunion

(Classes of 1974-78) on October 22; a docent signup sheet was circulated. There was a
brief discussion regarding Christmas in the Park on December 10 and the upcoming
City Christmas Parade.
2. Acquisition —Gary Parker reminded the members of the ax Keith Jernigan had donated.
Keith described the ax and the case he built to display in the museum. Linda Pool read
the display plate that would accompany the ax.
3. Facebook—Linda Pool indicated the Facebook page is still not accessible for posting
updates. Bill Golden gave her the password, but it isn't working.
4. Plaque —With the passing of O.D. Lively and David Massey, members are asked to bring
donations by the end of November.
S. Display Signs—Mavy Wright stated this is a work in progress.
6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—Two visitors at the Open House were invited to join our
October meeting (Lolita Williams and Denise Chandler). Denise has a heart for living
history at Nash Farms and enjoys wearing period costumes, 19th Century recipes, and
reliving the past. Her Instagram page has over 13,000 followers. You can find her on
Instagram at "time.travel.is.possible".
Keith Jernigan mentioned he gave some brochures to Bob Phillips (from Texas Country
Reporter) and hopes Bob will do a feature story on Euless and the museum.
7. Heritage Park —Mr. Parker recommended the docents flush the toilets and run both
hot/cold water while at the museum. This will help with the odor in the museum.
8. Inventory —donation items are being accepted.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - It was reported that Veva Lou Massey is moving to Waco in
November to be near her relatives. Also, Andy Weinzapfel and his wife are selling their
home in Colorado and have items to donate to the Committee (Suzy and Mavy are assisting
with that project).
STAFF REPORT - Mr. McDonald stated the museum will be open on December 10 from
11am until 3pm for the Heritage Park Christmas Celebration.

COMMITTEE REPORT/INPUT
1. Weldon Cannon mentioned that he has done volumes of research on Euless and is
donating the documents to the UTA Library for preservation, security, and accessibility.
He also stated copies are being given to the City Secretary's Office for safe -keeping in the
vault. He has offered to update the docent booklet.
2. Mr. Cannon also mentioned he and Bill Griffith (his nephew) had many research
documents, including one document explaining some of the street names in Euless as of
2019.
3. Advice was given to the visitors as to how to apply to become members of the Euless
Historical Preservation Committee.
ADJOURNMENT
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Gary
Parker. The meeting adjourned at 11:0Sa.m.
