HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-10-01215 Called Meeting Euless City Council October 1, 1957 Mayor Millican called the City Council in special session for October 1, 1957, at 7:00 p.m. Councilmen present and voting were J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, and W. 0. Murray. Guests of the Council were Messrs. Bayless, Joe Brown and Chief of Police Sustaire. On a motion by Councilman Murray, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance No. 85 was adopted amending Ordinance No. 33, Section 12, sub - section C, requiring a minimum of sixty feet width at the front building line for lots on which single family dwellings are to be bui 1 t. Councilman Anderson offered a motion, seconded by Councilman Murray, that the City Secretary be instructed to send a certified letter to the occupants of house - trailers now being used for living quarters next door to Billy Byers, informing them that this trailer house must be abandoned as a place of residence not later than October 15th o r the City w i l l take legal action. The motion was adopted. (Unable to get name and address on this place the Mayor advises sending a letter by Chief of Police. This was done.) Another motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, that Chief of Police Sustaire be authorized to hire a man to assist, or install City signs, paint streets, etc., and present the b i l l to the City Secretary for payment. The motion was adopted. A fourth motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded by Councilman Murray, proposed that the City of Euless grant to the Tri -City Cab Company a certificate of public convenience and necessity to operate taxicabs in and through the City of Euless, Texas. The motion was adopted. The City Secretary was instructed to: 1. Notify Attorney Bondurant A. Draw an ordinance annexing Euless- Bedford Road west of 157 to west city limits. B. Draw an ordinance annexing a small strip of Pipeline Road between the intersection of Pipeline Road and Highway 183 and Bell High School, strip being north of Andy's Drive -in and fully described to attorney. 216 (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, October 1, 1957) C. Change names of these streets in city limits; Euless - Grapevine Road to Main Street, North Main north of Highway 183 and South Main south of Highway 183; Euless- Bedford Road to Huffman Drive from east end of the road in the City of Euless to the west boundary of the City. While this action was to be immediate, there will be some delay until ordinances are adopted annexing such portions of streets or roads not presently in the city limits. D. Draw instrument of Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity granting Tri -City Cab Company permission to operate in the City. 2. Notify Southwestern Bell Telephone that the Mayor requests a representative from their company at the next Council meeting on October 8, 1957, at 7:30 p.m., to discuss service, rates, and future plans for the City of Euless.
