Fuller has served his fellow citizens continuously since he was first elected Mayor of the City of Euless in April, 1963; and WHEREAS, Mayor William G. Fuller has led the City of Euless through a trying period of rapid population growth and economic development; and WHEREAS, during Mayor Fuller's service to Euless, our City has achieved outstanding municipal progress; and WHEREAS, the more significant of these accomplishments are: 1) TThe adoption of a home rule charter, written under the direction of William G. Fuller while acting as Chairman of the Home Rule Commission. 2) Formulation and adoption of a $3 million dollar capital improvements program, providing for extensive drainage and street improvements, park site acquisition and the erection of municipal buildings. Most of this program has been accomplished or is under way. 3) Constructed a new fire station at Pipe Line Road and Highway 183 in West Euless at a cost of $200,000. 4) Contracted with the City of Fort Worth, whereby Fort Worth furnishes full time firemen around the clock and modern fire fighting equipment to man this Euless fire station, providing ample fire protection for the citizens of West Euless and for neighboring citizens of Fort Worth. This agreement alone saves the City of Euless thousands of tax dollars and is an excellent example of municipal cooperation between neighboring cities achieved under the guidance and leadership of Mayor Fuller. 5) Constructed a multi - purpose municipal recreation building at a cost of $250,000. All of our citizens are aware of the use and benefits derived from that building. 6) Contracted with the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District, whereby the City of Euless has installed recreational and park equipment on Public School grounds. This agreement is a further example of cooperation between taxing entities creating park and playground facilities for both Euless and the School District at a substantial savings in tax dollars. 7) Constructed a multi - purpose city office and police station building, housing the Council Chambers, administrative offices, a modern jail and other civic facilities ample for the growth anticipated by the City of Euless. 8) Purchased the privately owned water and sewer systems serving the Cities of Euless and Bedford. This system is a valuable asset growing daily in equity for the citizens of Euless, without tax expenditure. 9) Purchased the West Euless park site, development of which is well under way. 10) Acquired for the City of Euless the privately owned facility known as Midway Park. Improvements in excess of $100,000.00 made at Midway Park have created one of the best park facilities in Northeast Tarrant County. 11) Contracted with the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District to pay for an olympic size swimming pool to be housed in the new Trinity High School. This will be a facility to be used by Euless citizens in the summer months and by our school children during the regular school year. 12) Constructed this magnificent Library Building, we are dedicating this December 3, 1967; and WHEREAS, these accomplishments demonstrate the proven leadership of William G. Fuller as Mayor of the City of Euless; and WHEREAS, our City has under Mayor Fuller's guidance achieved a reputation as a progressive and cooperative municipality; and WHEREAS, the Euless City Council, outside the presence and hearing of William G. Fuller voted unanimously to dedicate this William G. Fuller Room at the new Euless Municipal Library to our beloved and respected Mayor William G. Fuller.
