A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS RECOGNIZING
FORMER COUNCIL MEMBER GLENN WALKER AND DEDICATING
THE 18th BRIDGE AT THE TEXAS STAR GOLF COURSE IN HIS
HONOR.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas desires to recognize
Glenn Walker for 21 years of public service while serving as a member of the Euless
City Council from 1975 through 1990 and from 1993 through 1999, including as Mayor
Pro Tern for 4 years; and
WHEREAS, this native Texan attended Tarrant County Junior College and the
University of Texas at Arlington where he majored in Accounting and Business and
refined the unique abilities and skills necessary for his future success in the business
and public service arenas; and
WHEREAS, he has three children, Glenn Walker, Jr., Jerri Lynn Walker, and
Tara Lynn Meacham and he and his wife, Teresa, enjoy spending time with their two
grandchildren, Jordan Meacham and Savannah Lynn Meacham; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his terms on the City Council, he served worthy
organizations and volunteer boards such as the Euless Non-Profit Industrial
Development Authority, Charter Review Committee, the Economic Development
Advisory Board, Trinity River Authority, and the Half-Cent Sales Tax Education
Committee and has served on the Historical Preservation Committee since 2006 after
leaving office; and
WHEREAS, he maintained an exceptional record of service; motivated by his
strong sense of loyalty, his personal obligation to his fellow citizens, and a sincere
desire to continually improve his community, this remarkable gentleman has left an
indelible mark on the community he has so faithfully served; and
WHEREAS, Council Member Walker was an avid supporter of the Texas Star
Golf Course and was instrumental in the visioning and development of the facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
The City Council of the City of Euless wish to recognize and honor Glenn Walker
for his many years of service in and to the City by dedication of the Glenn Walker 18th
Bridge at the Texas Star Golf Course.
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage,
as the law and charter in such cases provide.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 11th
day of August 2015, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstention.
