HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-273 03-23-1971RESOLUTION NO. 273 WHEREAS, certain regulations of the State of Texas and of the federal govern- ment prescribe methods to be used in the disposition of solid waste and other refuse and, therefore, there presently exists a public necessity for municipalities to conform with such regulations and restrictions; and WHEREAS, the disposition of solid waste and other refuse in open areas, burning dumpgrounds, improperly covered pits, and by similar methods, creates a clear and present danger in the form of air and water pollution and is a hazard to the health and general welfare of the citizens of Tarrant County, Texas, and of the general area; and, WHEREAS, properly operated methods of waste disposal are deemed to be neces- sary in meeting the regulations imposed by the State and Federal governments; and, WHEREAS, grants -in -aid are available to the governing body of Tarrant County through the Federal Solid Waste Agency and, such a grant will fund the necessary study of the problems that are becoming evident throughout Tarrant County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT the Tarrant County Commissioners' Court should employ qualified con- sulting engineers to prepare an application for a grant and to conduct a detailed study directed toward solutions to the immediate county -wide solid waste disposal problems. 2. THAT the City of Euless feels that immediate action by the County Commis- sioners' Court is absolutely necessary toward the resolving of the solid waste problems regardless of the outcome of any grants -in -aid, and that immediate steps should be taken toward the establishment of land fill areas situated throughout the County and operated by the County.
