Euless City Council
December 17, 1957
The City Council of the City of Euless met
in a special session on December 17, 1957, at 7:30 p.m.
Present were Mayor Ernest Millican,
presiding and Councilmen J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, and W. 0. Murray.
The direct purpose of the meeting was to
hear any protests against adoption of Ordinance No. 91 and make proper
disposition of same.
Councilman Anderson offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, that Ordinance No. 91, an ordinance zoning
parts of the second increment of Oakwood Terrace commercial, whereas it was
zoned residential. No protests or objections were heard and the motion was
unanimously adopted.
A motion by

Attorney Bondurant and have an ordinance drawn

moving permits to Mr. Worley Jones for the sale of fire works in the City
1imits.
On a final motion by C
seconded by Councilman Murray, it was moved that the City
to Mr. Bob Brady's request, authorize the Texas Power and
install nine additional incandescent street lights in the
at locations specified. The motion was adopted by a vote
opposing. Councilman Cadenhead opposed the motion.

The Council issued the following instructions:
Councilman Cadenhead offered. a
motion,

Murray, proposing
that the Chief of
Police
be
authorized
to hire an
assistant, when he
sees fit to hire
him, at
a salary
of $275.00
per month,
for the first three
months, with an
advance
in salary
after three
months to
$300.00 per month,
at the discretion
of the
Chief of
Police, and
a base salary
of $350.00 per
month at the City
Council's
discretion.
The motion was adopted
by unanimous vote.

The Council issued the following instructions:

The City Secretary was instructed to have Texas Power and Light Company
install two additional street lights with those already authorized - one
incandescent light at the intersection of South Main Street and Pipeline
Road to accomodate the street intersection and the Fundamentalist Church.
The second incandescent light to be installed on the pole just across
Vine Street from the Church of Christ on Pipeline Road.
Instruct Attorney Bondurant to draw an ordinance regulating the sale and
places of sale of fire works in the city limits of Euless.
Have Attorney Bondurant to write the utility companies letters of caution
in regard to supplying services before city authorizes such.
Contact Moore Funeral Home in regard to furnishing the City with cards or
stickers with certain city information, police department, fire department,
C i t y Secretary - a l l the telephone numbers and such information as Moore's
Funeral Home desires to give concerning their services.
The meeting adjourned at 9 :30 p.m.
