Called Meeting
Euless City Council
December 30, 1957
The City Council was called in a special
session for Monday, December 30, 1957, at 7:30 p.m.
Members of the Council present and constituting
a quorum were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., presiding, and Councilmen J. S. Anderson,
Paul Horton, and W. 0. Murray.
Meeting with the Council was City Attorney
Wm L. Bondurant.
The first purpose of the meeting was to take
action on Ordinance No. 90, commercial zoning of certain described land belonging
to Dan Peters.
On a motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman Murray, Ordinance No. 91, a request for commercial zoning of a
portion of the 2nd increment of Oakwood Terrace Addition to the City of Euless,
was approved and adopted, affirming Council action as adopted in motion number one
of the minutes of a meeting on December 17, 1957.
Councilman Murray moved that Ordinance No. 90,
a request by Dan Peters for commercial zoning, be approved and adopted. Council-
man Horton seconded the motion and it was adopted.
A motion by Councilman Anderson, with a second
by Councilman Horton, proposed that the City Secretary be authorized to pay for an
add placed in the Mid - Cities News by the Mayor, expressing the Council's good
w i I I and wishes for the citizens of Euless for the holiday season. The motion
was adopted.
Councilman Horton proposed that the City
Secretary be authorized to reimburse the Euless Elementary School $44.25, being
one h a l f of an amount spent by the school for coats to be used by school -boy
patrols at the school. With a second from Councilman Murray, the motion was
adopted .
On a motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman Murray, it was proposed that the part of motion number four of the
regular meeting of December 1.Oth, changing the street lights on Highway 183 from
incandescent to mercury vapor l i g h t s , be rescinded and a l l street lights on
Highway 183 in the City of Euless be left as they are. The motion was adopted.
Councilman Anderson further moved for permission
to withdraw h i s motion of December 1 7 , the s i x t h and f i n a l motion, and Councilman
Murray moved that his second to the motion be withdrawn. Both requests for the
withdrawal of the second and the motion were approved and adopted.
A motion by Councilman Horton, seconded by
Councilman Anderson, moved that the City Secretary be instructed to have the
following street lights installed by the Texas Electric Service Company, and the
Texas Power and Light Company -
Authorize Texas Electric Service Company to install one incandescent light at the
intersection of County roads 3094 and 3005.

Making
a total of thirty
seven incandescent lights to be installed.
The motion
was adopted.
I
Councilman Murray offered a motion, seconded by
Councilman Horton that the City Secretary be instructed to have the garbage collec-
tor's make a weekly pickup of trash, rubbish, etc. at the City Hall and pay for the
services monthly from the City's fund. The motion was adopted.
A motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by
Councilman Murray, provided for a final payment of $50.00 to Sonny Mathis on
January 15, thus terminating his agreement with the City as Warrant Officer. The
Motion was adopted.
A final motion by Councilman Horton, seconded
by Councilman Murray moved that T. A. Kennard's services as City Secretary be
extended until April 30, 1958, at the same salary and on the same conditions.
The motion was adopted.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
