HomeMy WebLinkAbout73-318 02-13-1973RESOLUTION NO. 318 WHEREAS, the comprehensive development of the Trinity River will produce for our area substantial economic growth, job opportunities, flood control, fresh water supply, recreation, pollution control, soil conservation and land use management; and WHEREAS, the U. S. Corp of Engineers, utilizing stern, conservative criteria, has certified that the navigable Trinity River will produce to the people of our area economic benefits of at least $1.50 for every $1.00 invested; and WHEREAS, local funds, to be obtained from the sale of ad valorem tax revenue bonds, are necessary to provide approximately one -sixth (1/6) of the estimated $1.2 billion cost of the total project; and WHEREAS, every consideration has been and should continue to be taken in the design and construction of the project to insure the highest environmental standards, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: That the City of Euless heartily supports and endorses the comprehensive development of the Trinity River, upon the conviction that such will be in the best interest of the people in the Trinity River Basin, both environmentally and economically, and urges our local citizenry and those throughout the Trinity River Basin to overwhelmingly approve the approximately $150 million bond proposal and the tax levy authorization at the March 13, 1973 election.
