Parks and Leisure Services Board
March, 06, 2023
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 PM. On
Monday, March, 06, 2023, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: Steve Doty, Jason Reyes, Isha Sharma and Kay Seger.
Members absent: John Raab, Roger Sickler and Magen Brown.
Staff members present: Assistant City Manager Wes Rhodes, Recreation Manager Elizabeth
Johnson, Senior Center Supervisor Sonja Howard, Recreation Center Supervisor Alex Harvey, Parks
Manager Daniel Dearborn, Parks Superintendent Ryan Turner and Administrative Secretary Jodie
Dunn.
Visitors present: Two visitors present but names were not obtained.
INVOCATION
Chairman Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the February
06, 2023 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Jason Reyes. The vote was unanimous.

c. John Raab — VOBC & Reflection: Not present.
d. Roger Sickler — Bob Eden & Trailwood: Not present.
e. Jason Reyes — Midway & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
f. Kay Seger — J.A. Carr & Kiddy Carr: No items to report.
g. Isha Sharma — Heritage & S. Euless: No items to report.

II. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for February V — 28t", 2023:
a. Total man hours for February 15t — 28th = 510
• 204 Horticulture
• 20 Forestry
• 198 Greenhouse
• 64 Special Projects
• 24 Training
➢ Prepared plugs in greenhouse
➢ Installed irrigation & sod at Fire Station #1
➢ Sprayed pre -emergent at city facilities, parks, ROW's and medians
➢ Installed picnic tables, benches, and trash cans at Blessing Branch
➢ Stump grinded at The Preserve and J.A. Carr Park
➢ Cut back grasses and perennials throughout the city
III. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report — Elizabeth Johnson
• The Senior Center held their annual pool tournament on February 10, 2023 where
12 people attended.
• The Senior Center had a sweetheart's dance on February 14, 2023 with live music,
games and lunch. 50 people were in attendance.
• A Senior Trip was taken on February 17, 2023 to the SID Richardson Museum. 14
people were able to visit the Museum.
• We have partnered with Dutch Bros. to have another scavenger hunt. This will take
place throughout Euless Parks on March 18, 2023.
• The Recreation Center and Aquatics have partnered together for the Euless Egg
Splash. This will take place in the Natatorium on April 01, 2023.
• Kites over Euless will take place at Bear Creek Park on April 15, 2023. Participants
can pick up trash around the park to exchange for a free kite.
• The tumbling program held a 1-year celebration on March 04, 2023. This tumbling
program started with 2 programs and has grown to 11. This was held one day a
week and has grown to 6 days a week. Sidewalk chalk, pizza and snacks were
provided.
• The awning at the Euless Family Life Center has been cleaned up. It has been
power washed and re -painted.

• The Wilshire Park update is currently under way. Demolish is currently being done.
Meetings have taken place to make sure safety is top priority during this
renovation.
• New picnic tables and trash cans have been placed at Blessing Branch.
• Solar Lighting is being installed at Glade Parks trail.
c. Community Services Report — Wes Rhodes
• The City Manager's office has hired a firm to hire for the new Parks and Community
Services department.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
IIII. Other New Business
No new items to report.
V. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
A visitor from the Wilshire Village neighborhood attended the meeting. The visitor would like an
opportunity to meet with someone regarding the Wilshire Park project. There is concern about
the removal of the trees, with trees being removed a lot of noise comes through. Once the
construction is complete a request is being made to plant larger trees than normal.
A visitor inquired about turning on the lights on the fields at Bob Eden Park. This visitor also
requested that field rentals be put online.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
