HomeMy WebLinkAbout75-369 09-23-1975RESOLUTION NO. 369 WHEREAS, State Highway 360 is to be extended northward from its present northernmost point within the City Limits of the City of Euless through such City, and WHEREAS, Cheek - Sparger Road is to be improved within the City Limits of the City of Euless, Texas toward the end of becoming a principal East -West thoroughfare within such City, to connect with such pending extension of State Highway 360, and WHEREAS, there now exists a fully developed and improved roadway known as "Airport Drive" lying and situated upon the property of the Dallas -Fort Worth Regional Airport, which road- way connects to principal East -West thoroughfares East of such Airport but now has its Western termination upon such Airport property, and WHEREAS, the extension of such Airport Drive Westward from its present point of termination to the proposed intersection of State Highway 360 and Cheek - Sparger Road would create an approp- priate, major East -West roadway linking several municipalities within the area of such Airport and would serve to alleviate traffic congestion now existing on other East -West thoroughfares within such area, and WHEREAS, such extension of Airport Drive would necessitate an expenditure of public funds far less than that required for other available alternatives and could be achieved in far less time than other available alternatives to alleviate the existing East -West traffic congestion, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, that the Highway Department of the State of Texas be requested to improve and extend Airport Drive from its existing Western point of termination, Westward to the proposed intersection of State Highway 360 and Cheek - Sparger Road within the corporate limits of the City of Euless, Texas.
