WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council
of the City of Euless, Texas, that the United States Postal
Service has under consideration one or more plans, the implemen-
tation of which would result in the loss to the City of Euless
of its local United States Postal Office, and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless, Texas, is not a subdivision
of the City of Fort Worth nor any other community, but is a
duly authorized and chartered municipality of the State of
Texas, having an independent identity and a population in excess
of 25,000, and
WHEREAS, by the announcement of such proposals officials
of the United States Postal Service did invite, request and
solicit opinions regarding such proposed plans, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas,
having in turn solicited and received opinions and comments
from the citizenry of such community with respect to such
proposals, and
WHEREAS, the opinions expressed to the City Council members
by the citizens of the community evidence an overwhelming
rejection of such proposals, and
WHEREAS, the Euless City Council, as the duly constituted
and elected representatives of the citizenry of the City of
Euless, Texas, desires to place of formal record such position
of its citizenry and such Council in opposition to such proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Euless, in regular meeting duly assembled,
that the Euless City Council does by this Resolution place
of record its total rejection of any and all plans or proposals
of the United States Postal Service which would have, upon
implementation, an effect, directly or indirectly, which would
lessen, abate or merge the United States Post Office now
situated within the City of Euless and the United States Postal
Service now offered to the citizens of such community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution,
appropriately certified by the City Secretary, be forwarded
immediately, both by wire and post, to the Postmaster General

of the United States Postal Service, to United States Senators
John Tower and Lloyd Bentsen and United States Congressional
Representatives, Jim Wright and Dale Milford.
