HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-386 03-23-1976RESOLUTION NO. 386 WHEREAS, legislation is now being considered in both houses of the United States Congress to extend the Federal Revenue Sharing Program beyond its expiration date of December 31, 1976, and WHEREAS, such Program has provided direct funds to the City of Euless for use in local projects directly beneficial to the citizenry of such community, and WHEREAS, the extension of such funds to the City of Euless and the use made thereof has relieved the citizenry of tax increases that would otherwise have been necessary to provide necessary municipal services, and WHEREAS, if such funds are now discontinued, a municipal tax increase will be required, and WHEREAS, it appears that the failure to renew such Program would not, in all probability, be accompanied by legislation providing corresponding reduction in Federal taxes, therefore increasing the tax burden of the citizenry of the City of Euless. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, in regular meeting duly assembled, that the Euless City Council does, by this Resolution, place of record its support of the extension of the Federal Revenue Sharing Program to cities and towns as proposed by legislation now pend- ing in both houses of Congress of the United States and by this Resolution does instruct the City Secretary to forward a copy hereof to the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States; to United States Senators, the Honorable John Tower and the Honorable Lloyd Bentsen; and to United States Congressmen, the Honorable Jim Wright and the Honorable Dale Milford.
