HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-386 03-23-1976RESOLUTION NO. 386
WHEREAS, legislation is now being considered in both houses
of the United States Congress to extend the Federal Revenue
Sharing Program beyond its expiration date of December 31, 1976,
and
WHEREAS, such Program has provided direct funds to the City
of Euless for use in local projects directly beneficial to the
citizenry of such community, and
WHEREAS, the extension of such funds to the City of Euless
and the use made thereof has relieved the citizenry of tax
increases that would otherwise have been necessary to provide
necessary municipal services, and
WHEREAS, if such funds are now discontinued, a municipal
tax increase will be required, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the failure to renew such Program
would not, in all probability, be accompanied by legislation
providing corresponding reduction in Federal taxes, therefore
increasing the tax burden of the citizenry of the City of Euless.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, in regular meeting duly assembled, that
the Euless City Council does, by this Resolution, place of record
its support of the extension of the Federal Revenue Sharing
Program to cities and towns as proposed by legislation now pend-
ing in both houses of Congress of the United States and by this
Resolution does instruct the City Secretary to forward a copy
hereof to the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, President of the United
States; to United States Senators, the Honorable John Tower and
the Honorable Lloyd Bentsen; and to United States Congressmen,
the Honorable Jim Wright and the Honorable Dale Milford.
ADOPTED this 23rd day of March , 1976.
