BOARD MINUTES
October 1, 2015

Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the September 3, 2015 meeting. Mike McGehee made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan
Gibbs seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Barney Snitz welcomed the visitors.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Sherry Knight introduced Paula Beene, Library Assistant. Paula shared with the board her job responsibilities
and her family information and hobbies.
Stats for the month continue to be good.
Update on Interlibrary Loan:
Paula Beene reported on the process of requesting items from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan.
Library Events:
Sherry Knight reported that it was a particularly busy evening at the library, with every available space
occupied with Fire Department training, the Make It and Take It craft class, StoryPalooza, and Mid-Cities
Genealogy Society meeting.
Sherry Knight reported on the successful Euless Library Foundation Tile Art Project unveiling, and showed the
video created by Bruce Hansberry for the event.
Sherry Knight reported on upcoming events: Author Brandy Herr on October 6; Euless Library Foundation
Book Sale October 9-11; Star Wars Reads Day on October 10; Crud Day on October 10; early voting for the
November 3 election from October 19-30; Trunk or Treat, October 31.
Sherry Knight reported that the library will have a pop-up library at the Fire Department Open House on
Saturday, October 3`d
Staff Updates:
Library Aide Jessica Duran has resigned in order to become the full-time director of the Cockrell Hill Public
Library. She had previously been the part-time director in Cockrell Hill. Library Aide Denise Olson has been
promoted to Library Assistant in Adult Reference.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Barney Snitz commented on the Police and Fire Open Houses, scheduled for October 3, and the
ECFAAA Steak Dinner Fundraiser on October 24.
2. Barney Snitz commented on the October 5 deadline for applying for Boards and Commissions.
3. Loretta Doty commented on the Les Elgart Tribute Orchestra performance on September 25.
4. Carol Kveck commented on the growth in the number of teen volunteers and that the youth department
is having a great start to fall.
5. Chris McAllister commented about the Junior Anglers event and the Fire Department Open House.
6. Mike McGehee commented on the Euless Library Foundation Tile Art Project unveiling and reported
that over 150 attended.
7. Allan Gibbs thanked the library staff for the card for his father, and reported that the Georgia Military
Hall of Fame will be inducting his father posthumously, at a future date.
8. Jim Hamilton commented on the Tile Dedication and the Author Adventures events.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
LuAnn Portugal commented on the music programs at the Leon Hogg Amphitheater and seeing families
enjoying themselves at the events.
Leon Hogg commented on the Masterworks music series, Empowering Seniors event, Police and Fire Open
House, and Calloway Cemetery.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by
Marcia Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
